What causes leak-off lines to leak?

Yesterday after using the tractor, Ford 1920, I noticed a smell of fuel and one of the the leak-off lines was leaking. It seemed to be leaking where the spring clamp goes over the tubing, so maybe it's a case of the tubing being worn.

What are the leak-off lines for? Could the leak indicate a more serious problem somewhere in the fuel delivery system?

Are you taling about the excess fuel return line?

Soundguy, according to my owner's manual and Ford service manual for the 1920, they call it a leak-off line. Off of each injector, there is a "j" shaped line that goes to a fitting; and a piece of rubber tubing goes from fitting to fitting and dead ends at the injector at the front of the engine. Hope that makes sense. Basically, you're probably right.

What would cause the line to have excess fuel in it?

I don't have my 1920 anymore.. but will try to dig thru my old paperwork. Hopefully someone else will chime in in the meantime.

Awesome tractor.. did everything I ever asked for it.. Including pulling a set of disc's too big for it to disc up 10ac of my pasture a few times.

Sips fuel.. powerfull enough for a 6' mower.. mine had 4wd and 12x9 tranny.. started first time every time.

All I ever did to it was fluid / filter changes and a battery when it was 4 years old.

Ended up trading it back to the dealer i bought it from to get my 7610s... ( should have kept the 1920 anyway... but... )
