Hello to all,

My brother lives in Chandler AZ, and he contacted me yesterday (Sunday) about 5pm CST. Said he heard what sounded like lightening, but it was clear blue sky except for high cirrus clouds. His back nbor stated they heard it too, and noticed the backside of his roof had damage.

Here are 3 diff pics. It looks like most of the damage is on the left (east) side snd as it goes westward, the damage lessens. He’s having a roof guy come out later today.

Pls let me know what you think? Thank you.

Wow ! That's crazy > Can the roofer dig in and find what the object is that impacted the house?

My brother just had shoulder surgery so he could not pull himself into the attic to take a look, but who would want to go into an attic when it's 110 outside? I am sure the roofer will try to ascertain what caused it.

Somebody at Sky Harbor might have some 'splan'n to do.
Is his house in line with a highway? I could see a wheel bouncing up off a curb and doing that. Which means the wheel is some where down range from the line on the roof. . :)

Wow! Looks like an impact.

Had some sheer wind damage in the woods years ago. 30’ wide and 350’ long. Everything in the path was crushed to the ground. Limbs sheared. Whole trees crushed or missing limbs on one side. Looked more mechanical than natural. Like massive block of steel had come down. Not like tornado damage. Or big heavy ufo landed. Don’t think a house could survive that blow.

My brother just told me the roof guy came out and declared it a 90-100mph microburst. There is no damage to the sub roof structures, plywood, or other...the tiles had bent nails like a very small arc. this is like if you pull out a nail w a claw hammer. The wind lifted up the bottom of the tiles and either pulled out nail or tile cracked and broke. No physical objects; only very strong, strong winds...about 45-50 total tiles impacted...since they do not make those tiles anymore. will probably get a whole new roof...mother nature is bad axx !!!
