We were down at the inlaws for x-mas this weekend. I got the ussual wool socks at such. They always get me great gifts that are always needed. But, this year my father-in-law hasn't been in the best of health. We got to talking about guns and such and he said that he had an old rifle in the closet for years. I told him I'd oil it up for him if he liked. Well, I had never seen it before and was suprised to find a Winchester 94 in the back of the closet. As I cleaned and oiled it up , he told me he bought the gun new in 1951 (ser# 1859xxx). He bought it for a deer hunting trip to Michigan. He had sighted it in and had shot a box of shells thru it and had another box of shells for it (the second box) in the closet that had one round out of it. After I got it all cleaned up, he told me that he wanted me to have it! Wow, what a great gift! I told him that I would baby it and keep it in the safe. I would love to use it to take a hog one of these years. It is real good condition and has only some light freckling mainly on the lever and underside of the receiver. And like I said it's only had a box of shells run thru it.

It's nice to see pics of a vintage piece in such fine condition, and decent wood for the stock. While I never had one myself, those have taken a lot of deer up here in the U.P. Congrats on the acquisiton and for having such a generous FIL.
