A shear SHAFT?

The weak link in the system, at least I thought, is a belt drive on the flail mower which has always caused me problems. And I have had the belt smoking from time to time.

Mowing hard with a really old flail mower. I did hit a couple of pieces of woven wire, but that was quite a bit before the shaft sheared.

It isn't shown in the photo, but the shaft is also twisted. That could have also impacted the break. When the implement is down the shaft is longer (and likely when it twisted). Then when it is raised it shortens, and likely got bound up.

That is a second hand PTO shaft that I bought, and when I initially installed it, I discovered the first few inches were twisted, which I cut off and reassembled. But I now know it was a bad sign from the start.

I'll have to experiment with it a bit more, but that appears to be a rather cheap mild steel. I also have a feeling it was designed for lower HP. My Landini is tiny, but it packs 50 to 60 HP.

I have lots of Milwaukee tools, all except my angle grinder have been great. But the chain saw and weed whip us M18 RedLithium HD12.0 batteries all of which have failed after little usage. There is a YT video on how to replace s single cell but its not easy. Instead I have been buying 4 packs of "after market" HD8.0s for less than the price of one HD12.0 from Milwaukee and had outstanding life.
Interesting. I had a Milwaukee M18 angle grinder and it was absolutely horrible. No power. Start grinding or cutting, and within 30 seconds it would cut off. I could reset it quickly, but eventually I just smoked it... it must have been overheating causing it to shut off.

Let's see... I'm pretty sure I bought it in the late fall of 2019 or early spring of 2020. I think it was some kind of open box special at the time.

I have largely moved away from the brand since that experience. I now have several Hercules tools. Just about the only time the angle grinder will click off is if I bind up the blade hard.

Oh well, i was able to replace faucet without pulling sink. I guess im not as fat as i thought. When we were shopping for faucet i asked the wife if she wanted a new sink basin….she said no. She liked the sink.

Now thats its all done, she wonders why i didnt replace the sink.

I need a drink.
