Buying a new home is just the beginning of all the money spent.
I agreed to my wife's request for new paint and flooring in the bedrooms. Calculated about $2k, not bad... then I found out I need another $2k worth of window coverings, closet doors, rugs, and furniture

Furniture is one of the hardest thing trying to find quality/price, etc. Sometimes antiques are the best.

I'm on the tail end of a house build. Only storm door install and final dirtwork left. It's not the wisest financial decision I've made, but I'm never moving again. The list of stuff I 'need to buy' is neverending.

I try to limit myself to one large purchase each month. That usually works OK until Dewalt went on sale and I pure fleeted all my cordless to Dewalt. Then I needed a miter saw-actually went with Harbor Freight for their 12" with the shadow guide line there-no complaints. Next I'll need a table saw. Then I built a work bench in the basement. Then I saw tires on sale for <$200 each for quality E rated tires-needed tires before winter anyways and even after install costs that should save me $400 over what I was going to get.

I verify checkbook balance against bills every day. I don't carry any credit card debt, the mortgage for the land is paid off, the house is paid by cash from my savings, but man I'm in debt up to my eyeballs on other stuff.

I ended up kicking that can down the road with my living room furniture. I needed something as I was living in the basement on a cot. Bought some OKish Ashley furniture from the local big furniture store. If it lasts me five years I'll be happy and better financially prepared to deliberately shop for something good.

I use window A/C units to cool my house. The bedroom one quit cooling and determined the condenser was stopped completely up. So I stopped by my local ACE Hardware place and they had this stuff. It is the best condenser cleaner I have ever used. One treatment and washed with the Radiator Genie is all it took.

The unit dang near will throw ice cubes at you now!

Still some bargains out there at garage sales. I just landed another nice smallmouth bass wearing the new $ 3 fishing shoes that I picked up a couple weeks ago. Color clashes a little with my father in laws 62 Johnson though. I should have brought my 56 Evinrude.

Hard to beat 4 studdable 3PMSF E rated tires for 755 nowadays. Yokohama Geolander AT XD from SimpleTire. I guess they're being phased out, but these were made in December. Nice tread pattern with lots of siping. I'm tempted to stud them and only run in the winter, but this truck is a 21 and I don't know how much longer I'll keep it. That and these are for 20" rims as that is all that was on the lot at the time.
