I don't know how GM does their trucks, but at Ford there's not really any difference between a 250 and 350 until you go DRW. My 250 has a higher GVWR than some 350s...
On Chevy's and GMC I believe the one ton rear axle is bigger and probably throw an extra leaf on the spring packs,? I do know in my recent truck shopping there was an option package for 3/4' tons that gave it a bigger transmission cooler heavier frame and a few other things, salesman I was working with said to just get a one ton, especially if your not a hot shot driver. forgot what the package was called exactly though. Nor do I know What exactly made it still considered to be sold as a 3/4'ton. Maybe bed capacity? Idk I do know a 8' steel dumper dog box will add over 600 lbs to an 8' bed.empty Plus what approx up 2 yards of gravel might add If I didn't have air helper springs I problaby wouldn't consider converting my 3/4:ton into a small functional occasional use dump truck. However looking forward to using it like a one ton dump truck. I suppose if I break something due to using it occasionally as a small dump truck I'll regret my decision but learn an expensive lesson. Quoted per
ta googler search enhances the truck's towing capacity and performance by adding components like a heavier-duty rear axle, upgraded suspension, and a 3500HD frame

I needed a working platform for the FEL/Forks. I found a cheap one on Azone. It was a larger model 43x45 w/ 1400lb cap. It looked pretty sturdy, so for 159, I took a chance.
Got it in and assembled. It needed some more bracing to sturdy up a bit. Added corner bracing on top corners and tek screws on bottom corners. Sturdy now! Gonna give it a run today on some large limbs me and son are going to cut away from roof at ranch cabin. If he lives, its a success!

Bought a new mag float, concrete finishing broom head, and rented a bull float from Home Depot for the concrete tomorrow.

I really considered ordering a cheap bull float and handle online, from Vevor or similar, but its $120, vs $16/day rental. I "should" only need it a couple days here, and then a couple days down the road for 2nd half. I will be at about 50% the cost to just buy it, but I just dont see needing a bull float even 1/year going forward, so I decided to rent.

If you own a bull float your buddies will barrow it with its owner everytime they pour a slab. I won't get into how I know that I definitely don't own one šŸ˜‚

I hear ya. I still have a 25 year old bull float that has been used exactly once.

Dad bought a new 2003 Dodge 2500 and about 2010 thought about downsizing to an S-10 or a Ranger. I offered to buy him a new one, his choice in exchange for the Dodge. The truck has been sitting for about 5 years. I kept starting it on my 6 month visits till my sister had it moved to a "friends". She didn't want me pestering her "friend" so the truck sat out in the weather, neglected. Someone had been pestering my sister about buying that old truck. (*he needed a motor for a 3500). I got wind that it was being sold, so stepped in to voice my opinion. Earlier this week I went out to wish Daddy happy 96th birthday and brought the truck home with me. I washed the outside today, cleaned 1 rats nest from the fuel rail area and just on a hunch, pulled the air filter. Bingo, there was another. Sure glad I didn't try to crank it with that one in the intake! Anyway, tires are 2017 and 2018 with good tread, there are 2 body panels that don't have dents in them. The truck has never been over 70mph, Daddy always shifted at low rpm and oil changes were done at 3k intervals. I paid 6 grand for the truck, but since I will be an heir to it, we deducted my 25% (4 heirs) from the selling price, so I wrote a check for $4500.
The truck hopefully will run again soon.

in case you can't read it, that emblem at bottom left of picture is a Cummins emblem.

Body man seems to think I will have more than I paid for the truck in fixing the dents. Did I mention that the truck has 64,499 miles on it? I spent the afternoon getting the title transferred today, Hopefully it will run soon!
