Same situation here. I keep say I don't want anything but they don't listen. At least they don't go overboard on spending. I really hate it when I get something substantial that I don't need or don't really have a desire to have. The wife has done this to me more than once and did it again this yr.
The real gifts came a little early. Wife had her first follow up exam after her bout with cancer this yr. All is OK. With the economy the way it is, wanting to see my kids prospering is a BIG gift and both came through this yr. One got a promo and a raise and the other received a decent raise. I need nothing more.
Yeah, my family is the gift. Not a dud in the bunch. Everybody who needs a job has one, everybody who is retired is well off, and we all have our health. Spending time with them is great fun. My 93 year old mother wanted to host Christmas dinner this year on the farm, so we turned it into a pot luck and made it happen.
