What do I call this thing?

I have an old implement I got at an auction once that I decided to dig out of the weeds and sell.

But I realized I don't know what to call it. What is that thing?

It's a rotary hoe or that's what they are called here.

Looks like a rotaty hoe, but could also be some sort of plug type lawn aerator.

Like most compat tractor implements it wasn't heavy enough to do a good job.
When I tied a tree trunk to the frame then it started digging in a being useful. ;-)

Besides a 3 point rotary hoe. I'd call it one heck of a deal for $50 if it works correctly. :thumbsup:

Same here. We used ours to break the crust on the soil a few days after a rain on freshly planted cotton. It makes it easier for the plant to break the surface.

We also used it for fighting sand when we had to. We had a bigger implement called a "sand fighter" that we would run on crusted soil to turn up fresh soil and keep the sand from blowing. When a big storm was coming and we needed to cover more acres per hour, we would use the rotary hoe for that too.

Crust busting on soybeans was what it was used for. The right amount of rain on heavy clay soil made it rough. Rotary hoe in northern ,Ohio. Might go several years or longer between uses.
