My situation: I live in the Middle Tennessee area.
I have 5 acres that I mow. The land is mostly flat with some slight inclines. So, I need to pull a finish mower.
I need to plow a garden that's maybe 200 feet long by 100 feet wide. I'm thinking a 2 or 3 bottom plow?
I need a front end loader for hauling landscaping material on occasion and odd jobs.
I'm leaning toward Kubota L3901 or L4600 or L4701 (whatever the difference is between the 4600 and the 4701).
In other words, I'm thinking a 38-46 horsepower tractor will pull that plow? Some tractors have a hydrostatic transmission option? Is this just something else that can go wrong down the road or is it worth getting?
Any opinions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
josh
I got a B2920 , MMM, FEL, Blower last summer to cut 8 acres of grass and blow 10,000+ sq feet of snow. No garden so I could not comment on that side.
The B 2920 HST (29 HP) has a 60 inch MMM (mid mount mower) and will cut grass as fast as I want to go and I am in a rush most times. I think the 2920 is the largest unit with a MMM. I didn't want a 3 point unit as tail swing close to fences and the like would not be great. These little units have a lot of heart and the four wheel drive is great. Don't be fooled by the size as they will do more than most expect they can.
The FEL is my first one and I used it more than I thought I would. I would be lost without a FEL now.
The HST will be great for cutting grass and my old unit 1984 MF1020 was hydro and it never failed. Don't be worried about the HST I would never go to gear again.
I went with turf tires as most of the work is cutting grass as they don't cut into the grass when taking those fast turns.
Whatever size tractor you get look at getting the most HP for that size/series. It is better to have the extra Hp than looking for it.
Good luck
