Lots of variables here.
I think 43pto hp an 8' mower will work.. It won't be a speed demon.. but it will work.
I've seen lots of mower / tractor combinations.
I know a guy that pulls a 15' mower with a NH 5610. I also know a guy that pulls a 15' mower with a ford 5000... I personally wouldn't.. but you do what you got to do i guess.
I pull a 10' mower with my ford 5000.. cuts just fine in anything I can get the axle over.. ( 67 pto hp )
45 pto hp is probably better suited to a 7' mower.. however.. the 40/50 hp area is kind of a size split where you get out of big CUT and into small Utility. A 50 hp tractor should be able to pull a 10' mower.. perhaps it might be tippy if it was a 3pt.. however if drag type.. probably be ok.. just go slow. Same with 8' on 43 pto hp. If you aren't looking to set any lnd speed records.. probably be ok.
If you get into stuff that is over your canopy... go for 1st and low...
