I used to have one of these - it screws to the end of a garden hose.
You shove it as deep as you can - it swells up, then builds up pressure and forces
the clog through by hydraulic pressure.
It worked really well most of the time (nothing works every single time)

I have used those. They work well sometimes. We were working at a house one time and a neighbor came and asked us if we could unplug their drain. We made the mistake of assuming the house had been plumbed to code. We calculated where we thought the pipes would be in the wall, went to the roof and ran the bulb with the hose down to where we figured it would be safe and turned the water on full blast. Well the house was not put in to code and when she blew it blew back through the bathroom sink. The only difference between the way the bathroom ended up and if we had thrown a bucket of black paint all over the place was the awful smell that quickly spread through the whole house. Needless to say they got their drain unplugged for free but I think they still lost on the deal by the time they replaced the towels and redecorated the bathroom.
