What do letters mean after TC40__?

What do letters mean after the TC40 designation. I have seen "A" which is the economy model, and I have seen DA, which is what I understand to be the deluxe model. Is there a TC40D? What is the difference between TC40D and a TC40DA? And of course, the ss stands for super steer. Current lit from NewHolland only talks about A and DA. Is the D an older model, and if so, what years were they made?

TC40 Early version, gear drive, spartan features
TC40D Early version, hydro transmission, deluxe features.
TC40A Current version, gear drive, spartan features.
TC40DA Current version, hydro, deluxe features.
Some of the deluxe features are available options on geardrive tractors.

Been researching posts. Seems the D got replaced with the DA, both are the deluxe models, which occured sometime aroung 2002. Anyone know any different?

I believe you are right about the year of introduction, but I think the DA models were actually considered 2003 year model tractors. I think there was some talk at the time of introduction that the "A" stood for "Advanced" features. Of course, some of us think it stands for "Awful" ugly lights. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Jinman; I have to agree; lights on new models are awful ugly; I would take older style .
