1970's~80's ThermoKing refrigeration units? Very likely the same Yanmar 2 cylinder Diesel as in my (1980) YM240. This engine was also a standard for the tiny offshore Japanese fishing boats of that era where reliability is obviously critical. I'll never wear my tractor out in my lifetime. I have no idea if its three-digit hourmeter means 1,400, 2,400, 3,400 or whatever but it runs like new.... old semi trailer ... They were refrigerated trucks. The hour meter on one trailer read 9,000 and the other was 40,000.
A smaller YM186D that I sold dyno tested exceeding new specs, at 30 years old. Hours unknown but had to be substantial, I rebuilt the steering box and discovered this was the second rebuild.
Your engines were probably still in decent running condition when those trailers were retired. Of course they may have been overhauled periodically, especially the 40,000 hour one. Replace the sleeves/pistons plus the usual and its essentially a new engine. I would like to hear what you do with them.
