What do you do with your Instant Pot you cant do with a crock pot?

Yes, the one I am looking at does both as well as a number of other cycles.

Just remember that dehydrating can take quite a few hours, and the appliance is tied up. We have a dedicated dehydrator and it works great.

Sometimes I do. However, dehydrating dissimilar things, with different thicknesses and water contents, you need to keep checking it. And you can dehydrate some things too long, like jerky and fruit roll-ups.

Mostly I would be dehydrating fruit slices and I have done fruit roll-ups before. Kids called them fruit leather. I never got into the jerky much, but that is on my bucket list.

I have a spot in the laundry room (near the kitchen) that would be perfect for a counter top dehydrator, air fryer, oven combo.

Back in the day, I enjoyed making jerky in my wall locker using a light bulb. I'd buy the largest roast the commissary had, slice it in strips, brine it and hang it to dry. I'd experiment with hot sauces and rubs too. Good stuff!

Best times in the Service was when Mom would mail me reindeer sausage (Caribou) and smoked salmon. I'd spend my day perched on a stool, slicing off pieces for all the guys in my shop. No aircraft were worked on on those rare days.

I did some dehydrating in our old micro that had that feature. It could take a day or more and yes a pain because the micro was the goto appliance for the kids. I had some decent success with beef jerky but didn't like it so much that I wouldn't rather just buy a package when I had a craving. Usually at the airport for a business trip.

Yes but you really need to have many square inches of tray to lay your food on to dehydrate. Minimum of 5 trays and up to 9 trays.

the 11 in 1 Instant Pot also has a hot air fryer and dehydrator now,

but I still like the separate appliances now that I have the room.

We have a serious lack of counter space too and that is why it took a couple of years to even try the Instant Pot. We have yet to try the ShowTime Rotisserie, Pizza Cooker or Air Fryer/Toaster Oven.
