What do you drive for a truck?

I had that truck 2010, it developed the phaser problems. Running 20w-50 made the rough idle go away. I wonder why that worked? That was one of Fords worst engines.
I had a cam phaser noise issues in the first c years and got them changed under warranty. The engine has stayed quiet since using the recommended 5w-20 and 5000 mile oil change intervals. I've replaced springs and shocks at all 4 corners, the rack and pinion steering, both front hubs, and a couple of rear pinion shaft seals. Lately it's been corrosion and sensors giving me trouble, but the engine and drivetrain have proven reliable for me. Resale has always been bad because of reputation so I just kept it, and kept it, and kept it. 17 years is the longest I've had anything with wheels.

1. What do you tow?
2. Does it have to go in snow?
3. Do you drive in mud?
4. How many miles do you put on it?
5. Do you need remote power?
1. not much. Mostly 7,500-10,000/11,000 lbs
2. never
3. Don't plan to but every now and then it happens.
4. 12,000 a year
5. No

I had an 05 with the 5.4 3 valve and it was very reliable, that truck never left me walking. I did the timing set at 120k as a preventative measure but it was absolutely spotless inside the engine and all the timing components were still fine. That engine wasn't perfect, phaser knock was common but lack of maintenance was the biggest factor in how they held up, poor quality oil and/ or extended intervals is not recommended. I did opt for the high volume oil pump for good measure since I was in there. It was a strong engine that made good torque for towing. My 2015 with the EcoBoost will blow its doors off though. 🤣

04 F350, regular cab, V10/6 speed/4.30's, 50,000 original miles.
👍
I'll bet that you get tired of people asking if it's for sale.
Funny, but apparently the governor and the legislature don't understand the concept of remote either.
They understand, they just won't accept it. We commoners are supposed to live in urban areas, leaving open space for the elites.

2019 Ram 1500 Classic 4x4, Bighorn, 5.7L, crew cab, 6 ft 4 in bed. Does everything I want/need.
It's very similar to 2 different work trucks I've had in the past, both which ended up getting auctions as-non runners after lifters didn't oil and scored the crank.
My understanding, the 5.7 Hemi is fine, just don't idle it for hours on end. A work vehiclebis gonna run 6+ hours per day, and much of that at idle. I make sure I don't idle my personal truck more than maybe 5-10 mins,

I’ve had lotta hemi motors, 3 5.7 hemis. One broke a valve spring But didn’t do any damage. I sold that one with maybe 150k on it I do t remember exactly. One kept giving me a random misfire in one cylinder. I sold that truck a few months ago as I replaced it with the current 2500 I have now. One of the 5.7s was in a challenger and it was flawless. I had a 392 in a challenger that was just a fabulous engine no complaints at all. The 6.2 hemi has been perfect aswell in my current challenger. The 2500 I have has the 392 in it but I haven’t had much time with it yet as I bought it last summer but so far so good!

Well, my "truck" is a 2006 Dodge Caravan cargo van. I do mobile mechanic work in addition to my regular postal job. It works better than a pickup truck for hauling tools and parts around and it will tow up to 3600 pounds. I gave about $1400 for it at the postal vehicle auction, only 74K miles when I bought it almost five years ago.

My son had a 2001 2WD 3.0 V6 Ford Ranger on 4WD frame. When his first kid was born he had to have vehicle with a back seat. I bought the truck. It took a couple of years for me to get used to it riding like a bucking horse. When I pull my converted bass boat trailer with around 1500 lbs. on it I know it's back there. A bigger engine and a bigger truck might be better for towing.
