What do you like about your YANMAR?

I bought 3 acres and needed a tractor to cut brush, grass, till 1/2 acre garden and provide heavy lift in house renovation and building a garage. I was looking for an Ford 8N or 9N, but my brother turned me on to Yanmars.(He has a 1300) He explained they build engines and complete tractors for John Deere, a tractor I used as a teenager working on dairy farms, so I looked into them. I liked what I saw. After looking at several models,I bought a 2310, and am very pleased with it. It does all I need and I saved $5000 over a comparable JD. Money was involved in my decision. I saved enough I was able to buy a 6' finish mower and instead of brush cutting the acre and a half I now finish mow it, looks better. I got a much more versitile tractor than the Ford, newer technology and a lot less wear on the machine, (560hrs). Another plus is its a diesel engine, so carb-iginition system problems are gone. I have ridden motorcycles for years, basically Trimuphs and HD. I want a strong rugged simple machine that I am capabile of working on if need be, and the yanmar met these criteria.

Well that chicks dig 'em thing can go too far. I have read several posts about guys whose wives liked their tractors so much that the husbands couldn't get any seat time. Of course the only answer is to buy another machine. Then you better hope your kids don't start to dig 'em too./w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

It appears from the comments that Yanmar's are the sensible choice:

Durability, Power, Easy to work on, cost of ownership etc.
Maybe the curb appeal isn't as high, but one can easily get over that after they look in their bank account and see all the money that is left there.

Unfortunate for me, it may be awhile to see one in person.
Not really a dealer nearby per se' However, folks have mentioned some in Ohio etc.

It's been running for 21 years,
1 final drive gear (yes it has enough power to bust it's gears)
1 starter solonoid
2 hoses on the loader
3 batterys
Regular oil changes and filters along with a few pounds of grease.
The green looks like 2 Terex machines mated.
What's NOT to love about these machines?

Interesting metaphor about the color. Or is it simile? I can never keep the two straight.
