The ones that are still around arn't too bad for a ~50 year old machine.

I can sum it up in one word- VALUE! I have a YM336D-very well built, durable, capable machine, with parts readily availably (should I actually need any) with "advanced" features for it's time that is 1/2 the price of a newer (but still used) machine comparably equiped. Sure, I'd buy a Kubota, JD, or NH / Ford as well, but why spend the extra $$ for less machine?

It always starts, too /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

How about those parts and service manuals? I collect mechanical books, and the ones Yanmar published for the US Yanmars are among the best ever for any tractor.

I would have to agree, I have a small collection of manuels for various cars, motorcycles and equipment i have, or have had. Unlike most, the yanmar 276 manuel has much more information than just repair and maintainence procedures. The section covering the poiwershift transmission is the first that makes it easy to understand the operation, as well as how to repair. The same for hydraulic and fuel systems. It is well worth the money. Alot of the questions that fill this board are answered by reading the book.

I like how little I paid, how well it runs, how dependably it starts , the things it can do, the guys I've met and those that use this board that I'll never meet , and how it looks. Thats about all though. bw
