Just to balance the other thread and have some fun, what is it that you DON"T LIKE about your Yanmar??

I won't be shy to start off, there are a couple of places where Yanmar really missed it. For example, every YM model I've ever sat on could use more space for the operator. I had to make some seat brackets to move the seat back so that I feel comfortable. Now if I can make the brackets in an hour why couldn't Yanmar save me the trouble?
In fairness, I have the same complaint with all of the other compact makes of the era including the Yanmars made for JD.
And how about that dumb parking brake handle! What idiot engineer put that stubby thing doing down there by my right toe? Is anyone else real tired of having to bend double to latch that brake? Why not a nice hand lever on the fender?
In 20 years I haven't had to do anything to the engine or transmission.... or much to any of the moving parts for that matter, so I can't really complain there.

I don't mind the parking brake too much.. it is similar to my NH's.. Actually I like the look of the yanmars better.. bu the NH one pops out after stepping on the brake better.
Lets see... no-like-ums...
Seems like the exhaust stack could have been moved. I extended mine up, and added a flapper cap.
Hmm... can't really compain about much else.. havn't had to do much... alternator is minor.. probably a (previouse)owner/user error that killed it in the first place.
A foot throttle on the grey's would have been nice.... perhaps a water pump, and better gauges.. but the stock stuff is suffecient...
Gee.. I guess no real gripes

They could have made the rear seals and bearings easier to change on the earlier models (1500D).

About the transmission. I don't have a tiller yet so I have never used first range. I don't care for the high speed of third range reverse and second range reverse isn't fast enough. I am still learning how to use powershift. It is taking this old dog a long time. I took right to the hydrostatic transmission on our JD front mower. I find it hard to get to the Transmission dip stick. I think I may look for colored Hy/tran fluid one of these days. The clear stuff is hard to see and I rarely remember to bring my reading glassed when I head out to the tractor. I agree about the brake lever. I have admired the new open operator platforms but that is one price I had to pay for an affordable tractor. Sometimes I wish I had turfs until I get out into the fields when they are wet then the ags seem just right. When I use the chipper/shredder I wish I had a little more horse power but I love the compact size of the tractor.

Don't get me wrong, I love my YM2000B, however, replacing the oil filter is a major chore. You have to first remove the side panel (4 bolts), then, after you unscrew the filter it still won't come out until you remove a large bracket with about 4 bolts. Don't have the tractor available at the moment so not sure what the bracket is for. Plus, to add oil you either need a long funnel or remove the side panel.

What about a relocating kit? Perhaps you could add the remote filter to the outside of the bracket... possible even add a bigger fliter, or even a couple of them.??

I know this has been mentioned before, but especially in reverse, high range is way too high. It's really an eye opening experience to let out the clutch and discover you forgot to shift back to low range.

The seat is narrower than my butt!

Hmm, my wife says my butt is wider than the seat...

Guess it depends on your viewpoint! /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif
