I just got pointed to the E-Z screen site. Their little model 100 looks like a tool that would find a lot of use around here. I wonder if you could put a finer screen inside for screening compost?. E-Z screen

That's a pretty neat piece of equipment - how much does something like that go for? Not sure I have a use for it - just looks like a neat piece of equipment

Since I would actually have some use for a machine like this I called EZ-Screen to try and find out what this unit cost and where I might buy one - turns out that they are not even manufacturing it yet and it probably won't come out until the fall. I guess I will have to wait a while.

Jeez what a teaser. I was thnking of calling but I figured they would probably be $1000-$1500. I would have some use for it. I hate adding more small engines I have too many as it is.

Sure would be nice to screen all the rocks out of my garden with one of those. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Several guys have made really nice, really cheap rock screeners that will take a FEL load of rocky dirt. Maybe someone else has links to them or hopefully the search function is working today and you can find those threads.

(PS, thanks for the info on the hydro whine in the other thread.)

Cheers!

What's that yellow stick thing the E-Z screen guy has in his hands ?

Hud-Son forest equip makes a small screener but the price for the small one is not on thier site. Its like the home made ones.

I dont know how to do the cool link thing but thier address is www.hud-son.com

Couldn't find reasonable mid-size screen: made my own.

I'm having a 4'x7' screen and frame made by a carpenter. The top has 4' long horizontal re-bar ribs to stop big rocks. Under that is two layers of sturdy wire mesh (concrete reinforcing wire) cross alligned to achieve a narrower sieve. The frame is 2"x6" oak planks with 4"x4" oak legs. The legs on the forward long side are shorter than on the rear long side in order to have the screen slant 25 degrees and cause coarse debris to roll off.
I intend to feed soil into the unit with my tractor FEL 72" bucket, then tickle it with the toothbar as necessary. It will be heavy and I expect I'll need to drop the bucket and quick attach the forklift to haul it around.
