What do I think of a man's choice of footwear? On the scale of 1 to 10,it doesn't even move the needle so I have no feelings on it. Now when it come's to what other people take in their coffee,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Now we're talking!! BCM (black coffee matters)

I wear some nice leather flip flops as often as possible. We walk after dinner for about an hour every night and they're very comfortable. I wouldn't want to wear them at work or when doing yard work with power tools, though. Just too many things to smash the old tootsies.

What I really hate to see is people using a weed eater while wearing shorts. Yikes!

I cringe when I see videos of guys running chainsaws in shorts. Call me paranoid, but when I gear up to run my saw I look almost like an errant knight of yore.

Short shorts (of the 70s/80s) or just shorts in general? Many current shorts are more like Capris. lol

I can't stand the heat and would rather risk death. Shorts and institutional crocks (no holes and slip resistant soles) are my chainsawing attire of choice in the summer. Shirt opptional, mostly depending on if there is anyone I don't want to see my Beer Gut!.

I've seen my share of tourists and snowbirds wearing sandals with ankle socks...! it just looks funny...

casual wear is either moccasins or deck shoes...

Anything that come in contact with sweat should be readily washed. Hence my being grossed out by sandals. I pressure wash my crocks all the time.

I wouldn't mind seeing a young woman whipping those weeds in short-shorts! I have a permanent image burned into my brain of my teenage friends sister pushing a lawnboy in cutoffs and a halter top!

Not really much of a sucker of any kind. Saliva kind of freaks me out. Always has!

Now we are talkin'.... I have that same image.... going on for 45 years now....

One of my early childhood memories was an older kid wearing them while riding his bike (we used to call them "thongs", lol).

He crashed and ripped the nail entirely off of his big toe.

We've always called them thongs too. Never heard the term flip flops until the late 90s...overheard someone talking about them...had no idea what he was talking about. Of course today you mention thongs and people thing of womens' undies.

I never liked them either. They just seem like an accident waiting to happen...not so much dropping something on your foot (though that too) but more like your friend catching them on something and ripping off a toe or something.
I do sometimes wear what I call "Jesus sandals", with a strap that goes around the ankle & instep. Yes I wear them in public.

Can't imagine wearing either to operate a tractor or other machinery though.

Flip flops!! Unbelievable. Crocs much better

My wife bought me a pair a while back and they're OK. Not very comfortable if you're walking any distance, but OK for a short time.
Then again, my preferred footwear is none at all. Wife crabs at me when she has to pull a splinter out of my foot but I've been going barefoot most of my life, not gonna change now. Soles of my feet are like leather, can walk for miles no problem even on pebbly surfaces.

When we were growing up my parents had a rule no shoes in the house (4 kids, both parents worked...lot less dirt got tracked in). Slippers were allowed, but I'd just go barefoot. Habit stayed with me, to this day we ask guests to remove shoes before coming in the house.

Crock got stuck on step of my loader. Ouch!

Good thing I drank, and still do, a lot of milk my whole life. Nothing broken.

In fact, I need to get another pair. To be clear. I wouldn't wear these in public.

When I was growing up in the 50's in rural Oklahoma, no self respecting country boy would be caught dead wearing "Bermuda" shorts, thongs or Roman Sandals (or as Brother Dave Gardner called them, Lebanese tennis shoes"). This attire, and moustaches, were reserved for girly men or other weirdos. It was jeans and regular shoes, or Cowboy boots preferably. As I matured, I tried thongs and sandals, but they were waaaaay too ***** for me...besides, thongs hurt my toes. So today, as an Octagenarian, I wear shorts as much as I can, whenever I can, and for whatever I'm doing...(in the Winter I don't mind telling you I wear sweats...I even have a couple pair of "dress" sweats).

I wear shorts mowing, weedeating, chainsawing, gardening, to the Lodge, to the grocery story, and sitting on my deck drinking my "stones. I wear slip on Sketchers when I wear shoes, as much as I can, or go barefoot in the house...and this from a guy who as a kid couldn't take off his shoes without busting a toenail, impailing himself with a nail...or in one case a straight pin...or cutting himself to the bone on broken glass, or breaking his little toe (twice).

None of my suits or dress pants fit well, or fit at all any more, but what ta hey...I'm comfortable most of the time. :)

I don't see how they do it. I guess they are tough because it hurts sometimes wearing thick blue jeans. When you kick up little rocks, or some weed stalks hurt and not to mention little bits of line breaking off. Weed whacking bare legged just seems really stupid to me.
