I thought I would give a little more info on my rig since others are telling all their secrets. :D

I tow with a Ford F350 6.0PSD CC 4x4 Long Bed 3.73.

My trailer is a 14' Texas Diamond "C" trailer, tandem axle, 3500# axles each with electric brakes on one axle, and a bulldog hitch. It has a fold in half tailgate and a Delta toolbox.

Thanks.

I tow with a '01 Dodge Ram2500 xcab longbed, 4x4. It has the Cummins, auto, 4:11's, camper and tow package. It's stock so far, but I would like to chip it and add an aftermarket exhaust. I have an older Tekonsha Sentinel brake controller.

I like that Cummins; sound a lot like the 8.3l setup in our stations fire engine...

I tow a few things.
1 - 5x8 utility - For "stuff". Used it for mowers ect when we did landscape maintenance. It's lite weight, something like 2500lbs gvwr
2 - 16' 7000lb flatbed - Used primarily for my Kubota B8200, and my Farmall-A. Hauled lots of other stuff; Cub Scout floats, lumber, hay, pipe, concrete block, cars, Bronco's, big wooden docks for Cub Scout day camp water front ect. I've run it from a few stick of long PVC pipe, to a Bobcat that maxxed out the GvWR.
3 - 14' Pace enclosed 7000lb - Our Boy Scout troop trailer. We have about 2500lbs of gear right now(those Dutch Ovens are heavy!). A week and a half from now, I will tow it back from Portland Or. Our troop is attending resident camp just south of Portland. someone else is towing up, and I am towing back.

Vehicle: 2002 Ford F-350 superduty, 4x4 off road pkg, crew cab, turbo diesel, catIII hitch, brake assist controller.

Trailer: (was) a Hurst 18' equipment trailer with two 3500# axels & brakes. Sold, too short.

Looking at 2006 Down 2 Earth 20' dovetail equipment trailer w/2 6000# axels w/ elec brakes on both, breakaway pkg, spare tire & 7k# drop leg jack, 15" tires, 2 5/16" hitch.

BTW....How's $2800 sound for this setup???

I paid $3K for a similar skid steer trailer back in '02. Doublecheck the tires to be load rated over 3K lbs each. My trailer has 16" 10 ply ST 235/85R16 with a load rating of # 3045 each. ST rating is stiffer sidewalls for trailers vs LT rating for pickups with more flex. 8 bolt wheels are easy to find, 6 you have to look.

A minor point may be a DOT safety inspection sticker requirement for a trailer over 10K lbs, along with a DOT Medical card for the driver.

In MN farm intrastate use is good for 2 years, I tow with a 3500 Chevy diesel dump truck and DOT that with the trailer. I drove it less than 2K miles in 2 years so mainly lives in the barn behind the tractor these days.

Last inspection he found bald spots on the front truck tires which I replaced, this year he found a brake wire knocked loose on the trailer and replaced the backup light switch on the truck tranny.

If I were to get another trailer it would be a bumper pull deckover so no chance to crunch trailer fenders. Weighs more so may need to go up in axle ratings and tires + remember you get another 10-15% on the tongue.:)

My tow vehicle is a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 Crew Cab with tow package. Trailer is a dual axel 20' landscaper with electric brakes all around. I use a Prodigy brake controller and a break-away box. I secure my machine with grade 70 (front) & grade 43 (rear) chains with ratchet and lever type load binders. I chock the tractor tires with 6x6s cut into wedges and placed in-between the wheels and place 4x4s across the trailer width in front and behind the wheels. I get 10 mpg towing the full load with my 5.9L (360 cu in for us old guys) gas guzzler.

I tow with a 3/4 ton 05 Chevy with Duramax Diesel and Allison auto. Truck is rated for 12K tag trailer or 15,5K gooseneck.

1st trailer is a 20' tiltbed by H&H trailer. (bought new)Rated for 7000# with brakes on both axles. I added the hydraulics to tilt it with. (Used to be a manual jack type) an 8000# winch inside the storage box and welded on my own D-rings where I needed them.

2nd trailer is a gooseneck 24' (20' plus 4' tail) by Appalachian rated for 12,000#, brakes on both axles. Bought it used, sanded it down, painted it, rewired it, installed new brakes and breakaway switch, and added a 9000# winch. It came with new tires when I bought it.

My truck is an '06 F-150 supercab 4wd 5.4 auto w/ 3.55 rear axle.
One trailer is a 6 1/2'x16' tandem axle utility trailer with #2500 axles
Another is a 7'x16' + 2' dovetail car hauler with 2 (brakes) #4000 axles
The single tilt deck is a 6x12 I think

I don't even know what brand my controller is, it works and was super easy to install.

Would like to have a 7x14 dump trailer with #5000 axles

2005 droF, er, um, I mean a Ford F250 4x4, FX4, 5.4L 3v Gasser with the BEST brake controller on the market – Ford’s Integrated Tow Command System. This thing ROCKS! Main reason I bought the Ford to begin with. The other reason is it was cheapest 

Trailer is a bumper-pull tandem Stohl 10K #, 16-foot with 2-foot beaver tail. Pulls all sorts of stuff like a dream. Like my Orange M4900 or Bobcat 763, building materials, gardening supplies, landscape rock, Terramite or whatever-my-wife-bought-now.

On a side note….
Farmwithjunk recently enjoyed ribbing me on owning a Ford. The other weekend I went looking at new trucks and stopped into a Chrysler dealer’s lot. They had a very pretty little item that cost almost $60,000 and had a rear spoiler! What’s up with THAT? It didn’t even HAVE a trailer hitch. tisk, tisk, tisk

Oh well, I guess these pretty, sexy trucks are to be driven by the pretty, sexy drivers like Mr. Junk. Me? I’ll just drive my droF.

I've got an old 1994 full size Blazer 4x4 with a Vortec Blower on the 350ci. It's got 173,000 miles now and I've had it on for 7 years. Blazer still screams. I don't own a trailer yet but looking at an 8" x16" dual axle 7000lb one.
