Jeez, how did you guys learn about my Fluid Film secret?

It does dry up a bit and keep the grit down but there is not much grinding rotation of the balls anyway. It is not like they are rotating at a certain RPM.

The balls on all my tractors are still tight.

I use the same old icky black high pressure moly grease that meets the recommended for my tractor. It stays where I put it and has been great on all my tractors for over 30 years. You need to be careful with it - its black, highly visible and seems to "travel" everywhere.

+3 on FF FLUID FILMョ | Corrosion Preventative, Lubricant and Rust Inhibitor. (testimonials)

Has passed my tailgate hinge (Chev), tongue jack screw, truck hitch ball, & Dixon 4421 drive chain (4) tests so far. Hesitant to wipe my guns down with it just yet but will be trying it on boots soon, as going back & forth between neatsfoot compound & Sno-Seal seems counter-productive and is tough on my arthritic old paws. Think of cosmoline in a can at either its best or worst. :confused3: YMMV. ;)

Motorcycle chain lube. Attracts and holds little dirt and it's cheap!

Grease and oil - what ever is handy. It is not dusty in my area, and grit isn't a problem. Rain and snow are bigger issues. I try to keep all moving surfaces coated with something fresh. Oil flows, but grease stays put. -A use for each! I like gear oil.

-I stay away from WD40 because it breaks down oil and grease.

I'm in the nothing or graphite camp. It seems that over the years of my learning, grease on support hooks, open ball joints and other points of attachment just attract dirt and become an abrasive that stays in place. And synthetic grease is the worst of all, plus it's hard to wipe clean when doing a clean up job. I use Fluid Film sometimes under fenders where there is nothing rubbing together, but it seems like it too is a dirt magnet. In winter snow work, 30 wt oil or some grease is what I use.
But, everything wears out sooner........or....... later.

Occasionally i'll use a silicone spray that drys almost instantly. But most of the time I use nothing.

I'm a fluid film fan myself. I use it for undercoating my vehicles. Good call

I like wet graphite spray or liquid wax lube, also known as bicycle chain lube. Home Depot now sells spray wax lube under their HDX brand.

The carrier in wet graphite spray evaporates in seconds, leaving dry graphite. Graphite burnishes the Draw Pins connecting your implements to the tractor.

Neither graphite nor wax lube hold dust.
