Tractor
Kubota B7100 old style
It's spring! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Just finished the annual of the B7100 (oil, filters, etc.) and it occurred to me that I do something that most tractor owners may not do. When I change engine oil I usually end up with about a half a quart of oil left at the end of the job. Since the B has never used oil between oil changes I wait until the old oil draining out of the engine slows down to an intermittent trickle and then pour about half a quart of fresh oil into the engine to help flush out what was left of the old oil. The fresh oil flushs out an extra half quart of black oil and yes, it does come out black. May not help but, it sure doesn’t hurt. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I have a specially marked container for "left over" oil that I collect and use in my oil can, etc. That container never gets completly empty or full. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I always put the cap back on the container and place it on a shelf for future use.

Well you cound just add it in. Mine holds 6.9qt's with a filter, another half quart isn't going to change much. And I never put in .9 qts. But if you are worried about to much oil just leave a half quart out. Running the engine in the middle of the stick marks isn't going to hurt a thing. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Problem solved!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Is this quart of oil seen as half full or half empty?

I'll usually do like Egon and just save it for future use.. However, these things look pretty cool....

Yup, and the regular ole "dino" oil tastes much better than the synthetic stuff! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You are getting a cynical as I am.

Actually, I take my excess oil and fill my oil cans for lubricating miscellaneous fittings and my machine tools. I always drain the containers, every little bit gets used, it's getting expensive.

As far as "taste", well, Dino and synthetic both taste less than palatable but then so does Castor oil.
