What does Firewood really cost?

Well in Oklahoma its $13.99 a gallon and about $11.00 on ebay with $10 shipping ... Guess JD is better.

The $13.99 is probably closer to what I payed last time somewhere else. I have been looking at upgrading my current saw Stihl MS290 to a MS362 or it's equivalent.

The jug does not say anything about being biodegradable, etc. The oil seemed to be a different bluish color than the last jug I had.

Mom doesn't like dad to run the fireplace in the house; and its not for safety reasons.
before going to bed dad likes to stoke the fire and shut it down, a slow all night hot fire. (I aint saying its wrong or right, its what he thinks he has to do) anyway the living room heats up nice and toasty; and the thermostat for the heat pump is out there. so the heat pump thinks the house is warm and wont turn on; and mom freezes in the back bed rooms.

I wanted to add one more cost. $37.99 for 1 gallon of Stihl Bar & Chain oil at the local JD dealer.

That's ridiculous to buy bar oil at a JD dealer..even more to buy the brand name bar oil...

Maybe. Not sure I really like my local Stihl dealer. He is never open when I can get to him. He makes his money off of the loggers in the area not none loggers like me. I was happy that my JD dealer is now selling Stihl products since I trust the JD dealer, not so much the local Stihl dealer.

I bought a gallon of Stihl bar oil from JD last year. I do not remember the price but it was inline with what I have paid over the years. It surely was not $38 a gallon! :confused2:

I would rather support my JD dealer than buying Husky oil at Lowes or Stihl oil from the local Stihl dealer as long as the prices are competitive. In my case the price is competitive.

Later,
Dan

A lifetime of cutting and burning wood could increase you lifespan by many years. So, How can you put a cost on that? Ken Sweet

Running a chainsaw in the woods in spite of the danger has got to be healthier than the running the remote on the couch.

Tragic and all, but im curious what this has to do with firewood?

...my guess is it was referring to the post above it, that mentioned it was better for you to be in the woods cutting wood ,than sitting on your couch with the remote in your hand:thumbsup:
