what grade oil to use in my G152 Bolens Iseki

What engine oil do you guys use in your Bolens Diesels? I just changed it and used a Rotella Diesel specific oil 15W40, I believe it was. I looked in the book and it specified CC or greater grade, what is a greater grade than CC? This is my first diesel engine in anything.

If you are in a moderate climate, that Rotella should be just fine. Old manuals specify oils from "back then". Most of those old ratings have long ago been super-ceded.

You can find semi-synthetic Rotella in 10w-30, the silver jug, at Walmart for $16. Or, the 5w-40, dark blue jug, full synthetic for $20.
