I posted on a topic today and now the post has been removed from the forum. Could someone please tell me why this was done.

Thanks
Gordon

I think that series of posts ended up in the recycle bin where it belonged/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.

Yes you are right, that was the best thing to happen to that thread. But I never had that happen before in all of the posts that I've made here.

Was my post offensive? I usually try not to be and I'm sorry to all if I was in any way shape or form. If you would like to pull my posting abilities on the forum that is fine as well. But I posted all facts.

That's the fallacy of censorship. It doesnt make the ideas go away. Soooooo, to satisfy all of the curious, Gordon, what was the general nature of this thread and your post?

Gordon sent me a private message describing the thread. Gee, I've been on most of the day. Must have happened while I was driving home. Work is the bane of the TBNing class. Sounds like the general topic, layoffs at Deere, could have been an interesting topic.

Muhammad rarely deletes things, but his practice seems to be to try to nip things in the bud if he detects that things are getting to be more-heat-than-light or too personal. I dont agree with this, and will say so every time it happens, as I am now.

However, in the great TBN scheme of things, it's like complaining about a piece of lint on the Mona Lisa.

Gordon,

Your post had nothing to do with the removal of that thread. I made the decision to remove the thread and that includes all posts attached. I had no problem with your post. Rarely do I remove a thread because I find something somebody posted to be inappropriate. However, one opinion plus another opinion, and a hint at this or a hint at that can make a thread take a dive into less than productive and intelligent conversation; nobody's fault in particular. In the off topic forum, this just happens sometimes and the purpose of the off topic forum is not to argue and get in long debates about opinions. Not to say that's a problem here or even a common occurrence, but when possible to prevent that, I do my best.

Some people may not like moderation on any level online, but we have policies and practices here to keep the level of quality material found as high as possible. We have less than a 0.0002% removal rate of threads.

If Richard or anybody else wants to post a new thread about layoffs at Deere, then I obviously have no problem with that. But if the author of that thread sees that within 10 replies it's going to pick up a tone he or she didn't intend to generate, and deletes the original post as Richard did in the 'Buying American' thread then yes, you can expect that thread too, to be removed. That's not to say anybody was at fault in his thread, or would be in any other thread removed.

I'd like to say that I posted that post after an emotional time with a patient. After thinking about it and seeing the response it generated I saw that it had been taken the wrong way. That's why I deleted my original post as I didn't want to make any enemies here or start a war of words that would lead to bad feelings. The nature of this forum is primarily tractor information and good hearted conversation in the other threads. This post was not going down the good hearted conversation route at all. I don't think this was censorship at all but avoiding a black mark on this great site that didn't need to be done. I didn't want the antagonism that my post caused and I did not mean it that way. That's why I deleted and I am thankful that Muhammad deleted the entire thread as it was obvious the antagonism wasn't going to stop with me deleting my post.

Thanks for that explanation. Well said and well done with the clean-up routine.
Thanks for your interest and here's hoping you will get back to tractor'n again soon.

As a man, almost as wise ass me, once pontificated, "Sir, I did not hear the question; however, I would like to answer it."
