Me either. Been using manual trannies and machines that don't even have rops forever.

Biting flies, and paper wasps... Paper wasps are plentiful here...

You may discover, that the older one gets, one seems to have less and less interested in the things we just took for granted when we were young. Things like stinging insects, biting flies and sucking in tons of dirt and filth into our lungs which seemed like "part of the deal" when we were young now seems less appealing. At least it has been that way for me. I still only have an open station tractor, but there are many days on don't want to get on it. "too hot, too cold, too wet, etc. "

That is my fear, I will get in one then blow my savings to buy one!!. I hate the ground hornets, as I have had to bail quickly to avoid being stung repeatedly.

I had to bail off my 950 trike last year from a swarm of wasps while driving up to park my tractor after mowing. Mower/pto was off, and as I jumped right I snached her to 'off' and bailed in gear, and she sputtered to a stop about 10' away, wasps in tow.

Lucky you didn't break something like yourself. After that adventure I would seriously consider a cab machine!:laughing:

That was just one of the many things that finally led me to get a cab tractor.

Happy to report that I got up yesterday morning and at about 7:30 am mowed my pasture in comfort with the radio playing and heat/ ac as needed. I wore a nice long pair of boxer shorts and shoes.. was very comfortable.

Don't forget about those nasty horse flies that like to attack you while mowing. Those things are not very pleasant.

Deer flies, horse flies, sand gnats, skitters, bees, wasps etc etc----
got them all here but still worth it, you learn all sorts of effective tricks, like extra oil in chain saw, deet, smudge pots and one that is rarely mentioned.

Rubbing orange peels on the exposed skin!
Yes, it works and that tip came from a neighbor that actually held the patent to Deet!
As he explained, they could not patent orange peel juice (vitamin C)
Also taking doses of vitamin C makes your body exude the whatever deters bugs, Works!
