What happened to Winter??

It quit snowing up here the day I wrote a check for the new 2305 JD with 47" snowblower. I predicted to my wife that it would be just like in 1980 when I bought my first 4WD truck it never snowed the rest of the winter.

I'd sure like to see a "muddy season" around here in North Texas. We have not had a sniff of rain since Thanksgiving, and maybe one inch of rain since July.

Well us lucky folks in Ohio just have to wait two days and the weather will change....or was that two hours..lol. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif..Sid

Yes Alan, and the weather man said yesterday that this is the worst drought in recorded history for a 365 day period in north Texas.

Gatorboy is right about the temps. They will even out. But maybe we should work something out if it works out like everyone says it does. I notice things working for me that way too. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I thought that it was missouri weather that was that way tiltbed. Just wait a couple hours for it too change. We just got a inch and half soaker here in the ozarks but the last was 6 weeks ago. Gets real dry here and then it rains for one day. Not much of a muddy season like we used to get here. But this winter has been odd, up and down temp wise and precip both.

( I was so delighted when in early December we had cold weather with a good bit of snow. The pond was getting frozen over real nice and the ground was solid. Fast forward to January and it was 50* here today, supposed to be 60* on Friday! The annual muddy season is 2 months early. I was hoping to have been on the tractor playing in the snow. Is it the dreaded "Global Warming"? )
is a farce.

Jan 1994 we had two 17'' snow falls 2 weeks apart.
They were the biggest we'd had since the all time record 36 inch snow fall in Nov. 1950. Started On My Birthday .I was just a kid back then. Dad had shoveled a path to the out house and I would pick up my little dog Mickey and toss him over into the 3 foot deep snow about 10 feet away from the path just to watch him fight and struggle his way back to the path. Ornery little brat weren't I?
Anyways getting back to the 1964 snows my next door neighbor bought himself a walk behind snow blower after the 1994 2 big snows.
In the 12 years since he bought it he only used it once because that was the only time we ever got enough snow where it could be used. At that rate it ought to last him a couple hundred years hadn't it?
Around here a snow blower is a poor investment.

( I always thought the weather revolved around me. For instance; I planted grass by hand when we moved into my house 28 years ago. The result was the worst drought on record in our area. It happened again when I planted a fig tree, pear tree, and did a bunch of minor planting for the wife. The drought following that was so bad the lakes dried up to the point we could drive where we used to catch Crappie. Then I really tested the weather Gods when I dug the ditches for my foundation on the new house. I did that a week or so before Thanksgiving. It started raining before I finished up and didn't stop until six inches had fallen. I finally put concrete in the trenches today, which by the way was in the seventies. I worked in shirtsleeves most of the day.
