I don't know what happened , but I was reading the thread "new lawn seed protection" and went to the link posted by B P Fick titled "protect newly seeded lawn" when I was suddenly hit with a virus that disabled my computer and infected my anti-virus program (AVG - paid version). It kept flashing a "malware protection" warning and wanted me to click on it to protect my computed. I could not run my AVG anti-virus program. It kept indicating that the AVG.exe file was infected with the "blaster.worn" virus.
Has anyone had this problem? Was it the link or was it something on TBN? Or, was it my computer and it just happened to appear at that particular time?
I am writing this from a different computer until I get my laptop checked.
Be careful !!!!

I ran into that virus a few times and I was only successful by acting quickly and doing a go back in MS. The others that I waited on did not fair well

Definitely not from anything on TBN.

I've encountered a couple of those over the years. The key to avoiding the virus is to not click on anything on the pop-up. Do an immediate control-alt- delete and end task. Then try your anti-virus and anti-malware. If that doesn't work, you're already infected and it's likely imbedded in the registry files in which case I call an expert upon whom I've learned to depend in such cases, whereupon he waves the magic wand or some such thing and all is well in the world of bites, bytes, megabytes and gigabytes etc....:D

There is a whole family of viruses that take over your computer and tell you your data has been deleted, your hard drive is dying, etc. These keep getting updated so they can slip by your virus protection. There is a simple way to recover from almost all of these.

Make sure you have regular "restore points" made on your computer. If you get hit by one of these viruses, shut the computer off (pull the plug or remove the battery if you have to), restart in "safe mode" and restore the last good restore point you have saved.

This is usually much easier than using (and paying for) removal tools. If you aren't familiar with restore points and safe mode, google it and learn because these are essential for anyone that uses a Windows based PC.

Ive used the restore point option in the past and still had the virus. Glad it worked for you..
