What happens if I run out of fuel?

This is the normal way start bleeding at the filter, then injection pump and if it's difficult, loosen the high pressure pipe at the injector and run it on the starter until you got diesel, often you just need to bleed one or two injectors.

Needle showing less than half full means almost empty to me.

Yesterday I chipped pines for three hours. That's all my poor old back could handle. Dragging those pines up & out of the driveway ditches. I filled the fuel tank when I got home. It took less than four gallons. The fuel tank is now full and ready for another go around.

Filling the fuel tank is the final task to any days work with the tractor.

My tractor has the bleed valve on one side and the primer pump on the other. It's a pain to have to bleed the system, I make sure I don't run out of fuel anymore. Fuel gauge works, but I also open the tank and check visually. And I agree with above to keep the tank full all the time.
