Gotta disagree on that one! Far from dying, this is one of the most vibrant and informative sites on the Web! IMO this is directly attributable to the Webmaster's decision to reduce sources of friction and focus instead on what we all have in common: tractors and rural life.

Since the "transition" a couple of months ago, to limit totally unrelated posts, there was a drop in traffic of about 15% for two weeks or so. Now traffic is up to about 25% over that lower figure.

In other words, we are averaging a little more than 300 posts per day, which is higher than it was previously even with the unrelated posts. What that means is that there are somewhat fewer total participants, but they are posting more, not less.

I agree Pete. Personally I'm glad these guys do moderate us. It makes for a clean site and helps to stop some of the out of control arguments that get going here. I've had my share of posts moderated and I don't care in the least. To me it was a good thing and kept things civil and clean here. It's one of the reasons I keep coming back here is because I know if it gets out of control the great guys moderating or Muhammad will take care of it. I say what has happened to this site is it just keeps getting better and better.

I have to admit, I would rather associate someone by their knowledge or by what kind of tractor they own than I would by their religious or political beliefs! I don't get near as stirred up over debates about gear vs hydrostatic as I did some of the off topic debates and that suits me just fine. If I want to get stirred up I can go to work and put up with what goes on there. I like coming to TBN in for information and to enjoy the comaraderie that exists among a lot of folks who have one thing in common... tractors. I, just like everyone else, have strong political and religious views. I just don't think a tractor forum is the right place to express those views. As far as jokes go, there are countless websites that one can go to if they want jokes. I get way too many of 'em in my email everyday. I like jokes but there is plenty of humor here at TBN without them. Kudos to Muhammad et al for staying focused on what TBN is all about and my thanks to all the TBN members who contribute and share and make this a truely great website.

Yep, Pete, if this site's dying, I must really be getting old, 'cause it seems to me to take longer all the time if I want to read all the posts./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

<font color=blue>you read ALL the posts?</font color=blue>

All you need to do is . . . retire, sell the farm, move into an apartment so you have no outside work to do and very little inside, let the local service center do the maintenance on your vehicles, get high speed Internet service, ignore the wife and TV, and . . . well, I still don't actually "read" all the posts; just quickly scan a lot of them./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Mark, this site certainly isn't dying. It's a wealth of information. I'm sorry you feel that way.

But I do LOVE your tractor! I am just getting into haying, and I would love to use a Ford 8000!! And with a cab, no less!!!

Is the cab air conditioned??

Your tractor is a beauty!! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
