What implements are Kubota BX specific???

Woods Estate series backblade and landscape rake fit and work great; the dealer installed the pins on the rake facing in, on the blade, facing out. Both work OK, but I prefer the facing out pins. A side issue, the frames of both are identical, only two bolts removed/replaced would be necessary if you could get one frame and both tools.
The Herd 96 seeder/spreader works fine, just don't lift the 3ph without watching what's happening - you can inadvertently modify your tractor!
The Worksaver 24 inch dirt scoop won't work without modifications. (Or a very short toplink - I found a CAT 0 toplink that works OK.) My next fix for the scoop is to lower and extend (toward the tractor) the lower pin attachment points.

Yep, that is true, do not lift the M96 to full height by accident or the top link will bend the cross bar sheet metal on the back of the BX. There is no reason to raise it that high--so don't. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif J

Folks, /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

You have my attention now. Modifications? I just purchased a Midwest LR20-72 Landscape Rake (214 lbs.) and a Midwest Box Blade BB20-48 (397 lbs.). They are being shipped. If I understand correctly, these may not fit my BX2230? Can anyone comment if they have these 2 implements on a BX and did you have to do modifications? I would appreciate it. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I have the Midwest BB20-48 on my BX23. It works great! My dealer recommended it over the BB15-48 as it is stronger (3/8" plate v. 1/4" plate, plus several other structural features) and quite a bit heavier (about 100 lbs.), which is an important attribute for a BB. You will do fine with the BB20-48 on you '2230, and no mods will be needed.

Can't comment on the landscape rake, but would appreciate hearing how you like it once you get yours.

Rimmer,

Sorry, I read the thread and I overlooked your feedback. Thanks for re-posting. I will definitely let the forum know the fit and finish of these Midwest products. Unfortunately I ordered a specific color so they had to be ordered from the factory, shipped to the dealer and then to me…about 6 weeks. Pretty bad…fussing over implement colors. I figure, you spend this kind of money on a tractor; you might as well have some nice looking attachments. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I feel that a 48 inch BB weighing 400 lbs is to much for a BX to get the full utility from the blade. Yep, I got a 48 inch approx 400 lb unit and that is what I use on my BX but after using the same BB on my 2410 I realize that what the BX really needs is a 44/48 inch 275/325 lb unit. That said, I use the 48 inch and 400 lb unit with great success on the BX. If you are mostly using the BB for grading it is OK to go big, if, however, you intend to dig, scrap, scarify, spread etc with it then the BB must be matched in size to the power available with the tractor. For example. In heavy soil or busting up a drive I did as a neighborly gesture, the 2410 could pull the blade with all the scarifiers down--the BX could not. When I attempted to scrap down to get a new base level the BX came to a stop and the 2410 easily pulled it. Why, because the blade is a better for the 2410, you cannot dig/scrape/scarify if the tractor cannot PULL the blade. Therefore I feel it needs a smaller blade so it can take a smaller bite. I think a 325 lb and 44 inch wide unit would be optimum. That just me though. J

Interesting report and good feedback, thanks!

With the BX, as compared to the 2410, did you run out of power, or did you run out of traction? I ask because I have often wondered if the smaller wheels and tires on the BX resulted in less traction for some reason. Maybe being small but wide they tend to "float" more?

I have mainly used my blade for grading, both gravel and dirt, where I think the extra weight produced good results. Thanks again for your comments.

paco,

what length of bit does your phd have. I looked on the woods site and they have only a 42 inch long for the 1130. I noticed the 1130 has 42 inch bits, and the 1100 has 30 inch bits. One seems awfully long and the awfully short, I would love to see a bit about 36 inches.

thanks for the input, I am in the market for one of these and Henro suggested that someone had this working. Guess that means you are IT!

Have to agree with you on this on TresCrows. I have a 290 lb. rankin bb that I have been using on my bx23. I am clearing three acres for my house and yard. With the teeth all the way down, it will bog the tractor down if I don't release some dirt along the way. It sometimes will just spin the tires unless I use the differential lock. I wouldn't want to have a 400lb. unit for mine. However, I think if I was just grading and leveling, the extra weight would work to my advantage. I have noticed that for just smoothing out gravel and dirt, sometimes I would like the extra 100lbs. so I guess that it is all about what you will do with the bb that will determine what weight will work best. Just my 2 cents.
