I prefer my disk for food plots on the hunting club as it really just cuts up the top few inches of soil. Basically what all the posts above call 'over seeding'. We have some very rocky spots we do food plots in, and it's just too rough on the tiller (and the $400 worth of new tines I just put on there) to take it over there.
run it light enough and it's a great aerator, if you're just wanting to 'top dress and level' a disk is easier.....
