What is corn head grease and what can I use it for ?

I almost think they plan for that wax to get hot and melt.

But yeah.. I use thin greas in those heads. remember the old worm drive circular saws. you put marine lower end lube in them. I don't remember looking at the bottles.. but I bet they were 0 or 00 grease too.

Agree, I think that wax is supposed to melt and move around. Listening to mine that doesn't seem to work.

I wonder if fiberous wheel bearing grease would dampen some of the scream.

I have an assortment of old angle grinders from way back pre harbor freight, back when the big thing was that traveling tool place.. can't remember the name. anyway.. homier? maybee?? I keep a bucket of old drills and whatnot.. lots of them chinese tools use a similar motor body and head bolt arangement, and you can do quite a bit of parts swapping. I've made put together tools like that. the bearings are always scarry crude, no wonder they scream. I see ball bearings where there should be needle or at least rollers.

When I rebuilt them old things I'd always pump them full of #2 amber wb grease. I have one grinder that is about ? 20 ys old now.. it actually still runs.. howls.. but now I can't get the old abrasive disc off. the rotor lock did long ago, and I had made up a tool to hold it, but the last time I changed it.. I have since forgot where I put it.

No prob. a year ago, HF had a tool sale. 4.99$ for grinders and 3/4 keyless chuck drills. I bought 2 of each. I'll break out a new one... bet it won't last half as long.

but yeah.. that orange brown grease they ship with is pretty horrible...

I picked up 4 tubes of JD Cornhead Grease at lunch for my leaking rotary cutter. I was expecting it to be in pourable form from a bottle, not grease gun tubes. Counter guy acknowledged my application and said to pump it in with a grease gun. Did I get the right stuff?
