Like I said, you look pretty damn good for an old fart, Better than I do at 71. Our farm is paid off, the rentals are almost paid off and all the land is paid off including the tract we have up north. When I expire, my wife will be very wealthy. Hope she appreciates it. My big issue presently is waiting for Michigan to roll off the pension tax so I can start spending it unwisely. I smell a new buggy coming. Maybe a Ford King Ranch loaded or a new Vette, who knows. Probably not either as I'm too cheap. I did buy my wife a new Suburban LTZ off lease last year before gas got stupid. It hurts to fill the tank now and it don't like regular either but that V8 sound so nice....

Kind of partial to off lease vehicles. I believe in letting the original owner take the depreciation hit.

No sales tax and plenty of sun to run solar power on, but have you heard about hurricanes? If you come to Florida, please be aware of our laws and policies and don't try to bring yours to change ours! Nobody wants to hear "this is how we did it up north"!!

This has its roots in pure spending of money that wasn't there. Money supply inflation but the underlying financial situation was not in need of an influx of cash. Sure, some individuals needed a hand up, but we spent WAY too much (as did some other countries). Essentially, they threw gas on an economy that had a ton of hot coals. Inflation was not really an issue in 2008. The economy was in recession to correct for earlier bad policy. The recovery took so long because of a Keynesian approach. Now we have a strong economy with the pilot light out due to Covid and the reactions thereto. The disproportionate response has us seeing the beginning of a raging inferno and they cannot even admit it is a problem. Deflecting it as a simple supply chain issue ignores the economic reality. If left alone, the market will always self correct, but since the fires were artificially stoking the fire, it will take a long time. They need to tighten up, but instead they keep wanting to spend more.

I truly wish more people had to learn econ in HS and college.

Don't forget that there is another one point two trillion dollars about to be spent. That money doesn't exist either, never mind what the government is saying. They continue to add fuel to the inflation fire so I'm looking for something to put cash in to. There is a better chance of coming out closer to whole by owning hard assets instead of cash. The other inflationary stimulus is that not enough goods are being produced to even meet non-speculatory demand. People, for what-ever reason, are quitting their jobs. My friends in manufacturing are not even close to being staffed at a level where they can turn out normal production. I'm speaking of businesses that build and rebuild production machinery that is used in basic industry. It isn't just the tractor and implement lots that are empty.
