Still debating exactly what to get, but for the choices I'm satisfied with the quotes from dealers on purchase price.

For argument's sake, let's say I'm going to offer Dealer B's quote to dealer A which is about $600 difference. Otherwise dealer A is offering attachments at cost with purchase, loaded rears, and delivery (10-15 minutes).

Is it reasonable to also ask for a hydraulic top link? Machine comes standard with the rear remote. I *think* that's around a $300ish add-on but not sure.

What other "freebies" would be customary/common or not unreasonable to ask for? Considering I think the price is pretty competitive from calling around and at least comparing to initial over-the-phone cash prices, I still want to get the most for my $, but not be a jerk about it either. Only things I can think of that' I'd like to have and aren't excessive $ are: set of filters for first service & toothbar for bucket.

NX4510HST is where I'm leaning so that already comes with a lot. Would asking for $600 off his quote, and then all 3 of those things (hyd top link, tooth bar, filter set) be unreasonable/too much?

Depends on the dealership and how they price you.

My dealer priced me out a $28,000 B2650 TLB and I suggested that they needed to toss in a complete set of filters and fluids for the entire machine, value of about $400.... After discussing with the owner, he came back and said that they would not do it. They price at the bottom of what they are willing to sell.

I actually did leave, not mad or anything, but that day I was not ready to sign on it. I came back a week later and tried the same thing again.... I got the same response. I signed the line and made the order.

The first price quoted was the last price. They did not go straight MSRP though, and there were a good deal of incentives from Kubota with financing, $1000 off for the implement group purchase, dealership gave a $2950 discount off of MSRP from the total build.

So while they quoted the individual prices at MSRP, they immediately showed the -$1000 implement and $2950 dealership discount and the resulting price. So the package MSRP priced at $30,855 before taxes/fees, then they got it down by $3950.

Then they added $2976 KTAC, $948 sales tax $252 state fee and $75 Kubota loan processing fee. At the end of the deal, I paid $30,394 after all is said and done. With my cash down and the 0%/84 month deal I was able to take it home with a $135 payment. I forget exactly, but I think I put $21,500 cash on the deal.

I am sure that every story and every dealer is different.

If you do not feel the dealer is being fair with you then you need to walk. You want a relationship you can trust. You will never be comfortable with a dealer you do not think is fair.

I had a somewhat similar experience - with a twist at the end. Dealer A had a machine I had settled in and have me a price. Went to Dealer B. Different machine, higher spec at a lower price. Took B's quote to A and asked him to work with me. Would he split the difference ($1000) with me? If take a lower spec machine but with the options i wanted at $500 more than the price of the higher spec machine. Dealer A said he had already given me his best price and wouldn't move. Suggested B had a better deal and if it was him, he'd take B's offer. Which I did. But B still came down another $300.
Some logic in that B's machine was a 2017, there had been a price hike in 2028 and he wanted to get rid of the machine. But, similar to Rock Crawler, dealer A wouldn't move.
YMMV! Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

I think his price is fair. $600 difference isn't a lot on $26k. And that was just first number he spit out - I haven't offered anything - just got that initial # and a trade in value for my current one. Just trying to get a feel for what is reasonable/customary since I never bought a new tractor. :)

I just traded a couple tractors in on a used t4.75 New Holland. I knew what my tractors were worth new and the used t was around 12 to 13 thousand off new. They sold me a bucket for it at cost since it was not included in the trade. I know my dealer has to make a profit on my units. His first offer was close to my price and we made a deal on his second offer.

It's unreasonable to expect your dealer to give you retail on a trade. Just get a reasonable amount. On new I would research the market price and expect close to that.

If you don’t ask, the answer is always NO!

If I have this right, Dealer A is $600 higher, but dealer A is offering attachments at cost with purchase, loaded rears, and delivery (10-15 minutes).

There's your $600. If you like Dealer A, I'd ask for free filters and a tooth bar and call it a day. If he offers either you're still ahead on points.

+1. I might have saved a dollar per mile driving far away to buy, but when I had a problem and hauled my tractor in to leave it - they jumped on it and had it fixed in minutes. Showed me what the problem was, how to prevent it in the future, gave me a lesson in tractor maintenance, shook my hand, and sent me home with my tractor after thanking me for being a customer. I've sent them a couple of buying customers, and they appreciate that, too. I called the salesman/owner's son the other day to find out what renting a backhoe for a weekend would cost. He said to just let him know when and he'd have one delivered - as a Thank You for sending referrals his way. Funny, that wasn't in my paperwork anywhere......

Dealer A - attachments at cost (showed me his invoices even to see it truly at cost). Dealer B - no idea since I didn't ask about including attachments with purchase.

Both offer loaded rears.

Both offer free delivery.

I'm going with Dealer A just since he's a lot closer and has answered a ton of questions for me, let me drive around on different machines, stayed late for me to get there, etc. But, I want to get a great deal from him too. Unless Dealer B really came up with some ultra discount there would be no reason not to accept what Dealer A has already given. Just the point of IF I can negotiate a little more I will try it.....just don't want to overdo it to the point I'm a jerk.

I'm not in sales but deal with customers frequently. When their requests are flat out unreasonable, I just say NO. When their requests are reasonable but not something I can do, I will at least go back to them "this is what I am able to do - does that work for you?". But way unreasonable out of the gate I don't even bother to see what I can do for them because I know it won't make them happy - easier to just say no and let them decide what to do next vs trying to negotiate with someone unreasonable and with unrealistic expectations.

So that's where I'm coming from....I want to ask for enough to ensure I'm getting the absolute most for my $, but at same time not coming off like I expect him to skip next month's mortgage payment and sell me things at a loss because I'm so special :)

I will have to buy the filters @ 50 hrs. I like the way my tooth bar increases capability so would want another. I would like hyd top link and of the 3, I would need him to pick and install it since I know nothing about them (other than it looks like a really cool time saver). I can order and install my own filters at service time. I can order and install my own tooth bar when I feel the need. So I do want the hyd top link as part of the deal - even if that means I just pay extra for it.

I'm kind of guessing at prices/values but think hyd top link (since rear remote is already there) is about $200. Tooth bar is about $350. Filter set is about $150. So I'd be asking for $600 off the first quoted price + $700 in "stuff". In effect saying I want a $1300 discount from your initial quote. If he's at 10% margin, that would cost him $ since he had to pay his guys to uncrate/assemble, and have his capital tied up in it. If he's at 25% margin, eating $1300 is still a good deal for him to make.

So I really don't know how reasonable it would be to go back to him and say "I'll write a check for $X for what we talked about AND you throw in filters, top link, and tooth bar. And sell me that bush hog and box blade at cost".

Will most likely not be trading in my current machine...will just wait for it to sell on clist. I think there's a good $2k difference there between trade in value and private sale value and that's a lot of $ to me. Not in any rush so can just wait for right buyer to come along and do it that way.

Last thought - he has exact machine I want sitting there assembled. Has about 12-15 hrs or so on it - presumably from assembly checks and then customers playing with it. The plastic knob on the throttle is slightly sun faded. Would this be same value as a fresh-out-of-the-crate one that hasn't been sitting in the sun for X months? I would assume so since larger dealers around here have tons of machines sitting out in the sun and I doubt they are turning new tractor inventory THAT fast.
