What is required after tipping a tractor

Ask me how I know these guys are somewhat correct? This one did not roll over, it did an end over end twice then sliding down the hill until the large Oak tree told it to stop being silly! I was not the operator....

From personal experience...

Once I managed to get the machine back on its feet (a project in itself, could have been done more easily if I weren't hard headed stubborn)....

I went through and checked all fluids as well a the batteries. It was not on level ground at the time so any levels were just to be certain there was somethign there. I was surprised that after several weeks on its side (I told you I was a stubborn fool), the batteries did not leak. At all.

I let it sit for several days to be certain no oil that might have migrated into the combustion chamber was still present. I attempted to start it. One thing i was advised at the time (and I'm not sure it isn't a concern with with small tractors) is the possibility of a runaway engine. I do not remember the logic but I believe it would be a result of either fuel or oil getting someplace it doesn't belong and then being used as fuel upon start up. Since this improvised fuel isn't regulated you cannot control or shut down the engine. The end result is bad. :D As an insurance, I made sure I had means to strangle the airflow into the engine as an emergency shutdown (learned what that lever in the old GMC dump truck was for too!).

What amazed me is that that old Deere fired up as though it had been run the day before. Utterly amazing.

Since any fluid checks I had done were while it was on uneven ground, I kept it at a low throttle and eased it back onto level ground, shut it down and checked the fluids again after cooling. I did need to add some hydraulic fluid but that was it.

Assuming one of the requirements isnt a mortician..... :p

If you tip a tractor over do you just chain up, pull it upright and be on your way? Or do you have to do any maintenance work due to all your fluids suddenly flowing where they shouldnt?
At least remove the glow plugs and place a little raw diesel in each cylinder to thin out any engine oil in the combustion chamber (good chance it's in there), then disable so that it can't start and turn the engine over to blow the crud out of the cylinders (messy, I know), but it will also take care of any hydro-lock. Other than that, check the oil in the crankcase and give her a start...may run rough for a couple of minutes, but I think you should be fine.
