These are bred for hunting, and at 12 weeks they are already doing that, if anything moves in the yard, they are on it!

I feel the same way about kids. I once walked into the local general store/pizza place where the clerk had her kid behind the counter and was telling everyone "She has mono, and we THINK she's contagious."
It didn't go over well when I told her that if her kid was sick she had no business being behind the counter...

I repeat my contention that some people are idiots, and this proves it.
Should have called the health department.

Nothing is better than a GSD! It was two years ago today I had to have mine put down. Best girl ever!

I've had several GSD in my lifetime. I put my last one down 9yr ago. I thought I'd never want another dog. She was great with kids, let them crawl all over her, very gentle. All bark, no bite to alert. It was so gut
wrenching. I'll admit I sobbed in the Vet parking lot..... anyway, my wife has wanted a farm dog so we went
looking and found a GSD pup. Currently 4 mo. old, and other than a few poops in the wrong area, she's been a joy. I have young grand kids, and my adult children have dogs, so socialization is mandatory. She's a sweetie, smart, and she knows who Daddy is (the guy that spoils her). Just 1 Old Man having fun in the
silver years.

And I've seen more than one mean Lab. But, I've found that although breed type plays a small role, the responsibility of a dog with good behavior is entirely on the owner. I've seen mean mini poodles as well as Rotts and Pits that were nothing but scratch my tummy babies. Part of the problem is people buying dogs they (the people) are not suited for. Lack the knowledge, energy or time to spend to properly train and socialize their dogs. I won't get into a what breed is best debate because we all know the GSD is the best dog known to mankind ........ 🤣
Not sure about that. On the 8th day, God created the Australian Shepherd. 😉

I think we'll have to disagree on this. I'll believe you, if you say you've met a mean lab, but I'll insist this is a very rare occurrence. On the flip side, I've only been bit by three dogs in my life, and all three were rottweilers. Can't be a coincidence, given the many hundreds (thousands?) of dogs I've crossed in 50 years.

And watching the local Philly news, I could put money on "Pitbull" every time they tease a story about a dog attacking a kid, and win probably more than 19 times out of 20.
The last mean Lab was one of my brothers dogs. I've even been hunting with the dog. He bit my daughter. My brother got rid of the dog to a guy that had a farm and no kids.
Sorry, it seems Rotts and you don't mix.
I'm not a fan or enemy of Rotts or Pit Bulls or Stafordshire Terriers etc My point was I have personally scratched the belly of Rotts and Pits (among others) and found SOME to be quite docile. Labs, poodles, prince charles spaniels, chihuahua all can bite.
The Pit Bull news attack stories are awful. But again, look at the owners. Major lack of training and major
lack of proper containment and socialization.. Especially if their Pit is that crazy SOB the owner can't control.
I want you to enjoy your Lab. I've been around lots of good Labs. Lots of good hunting dogs. Have fun with yours.

And that Sir is one good looking dog! I bet she's a mess and lots of fun energy.
Thank you. He’s a lot of fun and energy, but very obedient and smart. I can talk to him and tell him what I want him to do and he understands.

Re post 1069 about people camping om your tail and refusing to overtake. My nephews and nieces (20-30) are like that, and thier mother reconns it is a generational thing. She says our (age 50 to boomers) generation won't dwaddle. We over take at the first oppurtunity.

I travel all over the state every week for work and I would say my biggest peaves, at least while driving are the people that camp out in the left lane on the highways, not letting people pass which almost always creates traffic backups and mass frustration. On the two lanes its people that cannot maintain a steady speed, I dont need to go fast but I just want to be able to not have to keep slowing down for people that either dont use cruise control or have no clue how to keep a steady pace. Oh yeah, one more....truckers. I know Ill catch hate for this but they are by far the most inconsiderate and often times dangerous drivers on the road.
I dunno, most professional drivers I've seen haven't fit that category at all. Worst thing is on a hill when one truck is trying to pass another, but is only going .5 mph faster so it takes forever to get by.

As far as camping out in the left lane, for whatever reason drivers in Virginia (at least on I-85) seem to be the biggest offenders. Don't see it anywhere near as much in other states.
The only thing worse than being stuck behind a slow driver, is not being the first in the line, with drivers ahead who are afraid or unwilling to pass. I will occasionally pass the slow driver and the car stuck behind him, if I'm the third in line, but I'm usually driving something of higher than average horsepower.
Or the jerks that speed up when you try to pass them. Most of the 2 lane roads here aren't straight enough to pass multiple vehicles.

If you have a couple of 80 lb. dogs chewing on your limbs and knock you to the ground and start snapping at your throat, I bet you will figure it out.
Nothing quite that bad, but I got chewed up pretty bad by a neighbor's dog when I was 12 or so, enough to require stitches. To this day I go into fullscale panic when one jumps up on me.
More than once have I been walking or riding a bike on a public road and had someone's dog come tearing out towards me. Not very reassuring when the owner says something to the effect that the worse it would do was lick me to death. Uhhh, thanks but no thanks.
