I still have a couple of cans of black and silver spray paint that I know were bought in the late 70s, and they still work, I just used some of the black last week.
Same. Just like old refrigerators, old spray cans work fine. It's only the new ones that fail.

One of the more modern car features that I love is adaptive cruise control. I can set it for the speed that I would like to go, and the car maintains a safe following distance with the car in front of me.

I find that I am more tolerant of cars in front of me that are varying their speed. If the car has been consistently traveling slower than my desired speed, and I have a good break in traffic behind me, then I'll try going around. Otherwise, it's easier to just wait in line. I'm not in that big of a hurry anymore.
I rarely use CC and have no idea if either of my vehicles has the adaptive cruise or not. Seems to me like it would be kind of an annoying feature. Variable speed drivers really drive me nuts. It's not so much being in a hurry as it is I like to cruise at a consistent comfortable speed and being behind someone who oscillates between 40 and 55 gets old fast, especially on windy 2 lane roads with few places to pass (and guaranteed when there is, there'll be a long line coming the other way  ).

Amen!! Pay attention to the road and what's going on around you. Fluctuating drivers cause a crack the whip effect for the poor guy 5 cars back.

I use CC almost constantly in warmer weather, including to increase and decrease speed. This time of year I really have to discipline myself, as using it on icy roads is a recipe for disaster.

Drives me nuts too, but I've found that the adaptive CC on the wife's Honda helps it to drive me less nuts because it handles the up/downs automatically.

You do have to watch out for certain situations, like sometimes when a car is slowing down to get into a turn lane, it will keep slowing down even when the car is all the way over (by which time you would normally have been on the gas again), then takes a while to get back up to speed.

Still I'd rather have it than not.

Now, the automatic lane-holding, brake warning and automatic door locks, I could do without....

Or when you can pass, they inevitably will speed up.

I have found on my company Tundra that I can turn the adaptive part off. It also has lane departure warnings and auto dimming headlights... both features which I never use.

I use the cruise CONSTANTLY.. it’s the absolute 3rd thing I do when I get in my truck..
1) start the engine.
2) adjust the radio.
3) turn on the cruise..
It’s been so long since I’ve HAD TO use the accelerator, I don’t know if the “memory muscle” in my foot even knows how..?? Lol

I have used the cruise control on my '17 Ram a couple of times, years ago, to activate the high idle.

Once driving, I prefer to drive rather than being driven.

Related peeve: when you're the 3rd or 4th one behind a poky driver and the one directly behind the poke doesn't pass when an opportunity comes along. Generally not enough straightaway to pass 3 cars.

Most of my driving is on 2 lane secondary roads where CC isn't really practical. Once in a while I'll use it if I'm on an interstate if I think of it.

Depending on which vehicle I'm driving, I will occasionally leap two cars in a single pass, in these situations. Not a move to pull in a pickup truck, or really anything else without overwhelmingly-dominant horsepower.

I've never had a problem doing this, but given the offender is often elderly and I have a few vehicles with relatively loud exhaust, I do sometimes worry the loud car flashing by at double-speed will frighten them out of their slumber and right into the ditch. :D

If I lived in the west, where roads are long and straight instead of our usual winding mess through the trees, I'd probably be willing to hop up to 5 cars in a pass.
