Call me boring, but I order Caesar salad, roughly ten times out of ten.

The trouble is, because most people don't like real Caesar salad, restaurants have started calling just about any crap by that name. It has made it hard to predict what you're actually going to get, when you place an order.

If it doesn't have Anchovies on it, or at least anchovie paste with garlic and lemon as the primary seasoning, it ain't Caesar salad.

We used dandelions to make wine, now it's in salads everywhere as "fancy".
Lots of other weeds at a place we went to last month.
Wasn't sure to eat or to start looking up the best ways to kill it.
Vinegar and salt kills weeds. Ask for salty vinaigrette dressing with a little Dawn detergent in it. When they ask why, tell them it's to kill the weeds in the bowl. Doubt they would get it.

Older people used to come dig dandelion greens from our field around Memorial Day. Talk about an easy way to get rid of some weeds! I teied raising Kale one year, thinking it might make good pig food.
They didn't like it either.

Kale is a superfood. All joking aside everyone we knew who didn't like healthy food are dead!
Lots of people eat for taste...Twinkies, McDs, candy, etc.
I remember Jack LaLanne saying "if man makes it, you don't want it".

Per Mayo Clinic:

Nutrition superstar

Kale is a nutrition superstar due to the amounts
of vitamins A, B6, C, K, folate, fiber, carotenoids
and manganese it contains. One cup of raw kale
has just 20 calories. The Department of
Agriculture's MyPlate recommends any child
and adult who is over the age of 9 eat at least
1.5-2 cups of dark-green vegetables every
week.
Kale is a member of the cruciferous vegetable
family, along with cauliflower, Brussels sprouts cabbage, broccoli, collard greens, kohlrabi, rutabaga, turnips and bok choy. These vegetables offer health benefits, including supporting the immune system, regulating blood pressure and potentially reducing the risk of various types of cancer.

My parents had a Italian neighbor who had a farm property next door but lived in the city.
The man had a boner for herbicides.
His city lawn was better manicured than any golf coarse and his farm was a desert except for the fruit trees.
When he first bought the property next door he come across the road to harvest the dandelion greens on our property. My Pa asked him why he couldn't pick his own. "I sprayed everything and you have such a beautiful crop"
My father, a fruit farmer, didn't accept the need for herbicides and kept the weeds in check mechanically.
He told Rocco to eat what he sowed and that he wasn't welcome on our property for dandelion greens.
Then he went and mowed the ditches.

Piggies will eat Kale and look for more.
Ma and Pa used to grow all the vegies for us and others.
When the potatoes were harvested they were sorted for size and shape.
The odds went to the piggies.
Pa had a large witches kettle in which he would cook the taters, chopped kale, cabbage, corn... that didn't meet muster. When it was cooked he added a couple gallons of excess milk from the Jersey and some chop and mashed it all together.
Piggies were screaming for it to be served and they ate every bit including the kale.

When I met my wife in 1972 she made dandelion wine in one on those 5 gallon glass bottles people put coins in. I helped pick lots of dandelions, it had oranges, lemons, sugar & yeast in it. After sitting for weeks it got pretty nasty looking and this big blob would float to the top, air would come out, sink down, repeat.
No one would drink it.
She lived at home with her parents and one day this wine-o comes staggering down the alley saying he heard about the wine.
So wife puts some straws together so he could take a sip and the straws disintegrated as he said "that's some good s**t" so she said "you're welcome to it"...so he left with it.

Kale, Broccoli Rabe, and Mixed Greens salads. How did I make it thru 40 years of life on Romaine, Spinach, Iceberg, and Green Leaf salads, before ever even hearing of Kale... now you can't escape the damned stuff.

Today's "mixed greens" salad look like they're made from weeds I'd be spraying with lawn weed killer, if I found them in my back yard, and they seem to give me heart burn.

<-- just opened today's lunch, and found another mixed greens salad.

I know I've told you this story before, but the old guy who was my predecessor as Director of R&D at my prior job, came back out of retirement to work for me part time. I liked spending time with the old coot so much that we'd go out for lunch a his favorite dive bar, just about every day he was in the office.

At one point I suggested that having a beer with lunch every day "might not be doctor-recommended," to which he shrugged and said, "I've known a lot more old drunks than old doctors." :ROFLMAO:
