What is suttle transmission on L3400?

In all of my reading and asking of questions I was also under the impression that this "L" series of tractors did not have a synchronized transmission in either range.

I was under the same impression from reading fliers and the website specifications.
Unsycronized main transmission, mechanical shuttle in low range and reverse. No shuttle in high range.

The specs on L4400 say "Sliding Gear and Constant Mesh". The manual says to stop the tractor to change any gear. Its my experience that you can change gears without stopping if you mind the rpms and your speed. But, its also been my experience that stopping is no big deal.

I'd read the info about the partially synchronized transmission in the sales brochure that compares all of the new L series tractors. I don't have that brochure with me right now, and I havn't seen reference to this in any other publications, not even my owners manual, which does indeed say to stop the tractor when changing gears on page 20, although the owners manual does cover the L2800 as well which I do not believe is partially synchronized. I'll try to find specific reference to the L3400 as soon as I get the brochure back in my hands.

On another note, I did just get done cutting the grass and while I was on the tractor decided to check it out, and shifted gears with the shuttle in LO and the tractor moving. Problem is, as soon as I depress the clutch, with the tractor on LO range, it pretty much comes to a stop. Seems to me that even if it is partially synchronized that its a moot point, 'cuz your really not going to be shifting gears on the fly anyways. In any event, as soon as I get the brochure, I'll post back.
