I'm also a Stabil user -- the marine formula (blue, not red) is designed for gasoline that has ethanol, so that's the right stuff. Premium gasoline, because some of it goes in the chainsaw, and always name-brand oil: stihl, jonsereds, etc.

My understanding is the little bottles of 2-cycle have fuel stabilizers, but I still think using Stabil is a good idea. I've got no particular expertise, by the way!

Yep, the 2-cycle oil is supposed to have fuel stabilizers, but I use Stabil also. But I've never used the marine formula (the blue stuff). And (knock on wood), I've seen so many posts about the bad effects of ethanol that I figure it must be true, but so far I've not had any problem with it.

I use Amsoil synthetic 2 cycle oil and and 93 octane gas... seems to work best for me in all my 2 cycle equipment.

Another vote for the Stihl Ultra. We are lucky enough to have a local station that sells non-ethanol gasoline, otherwise I also use the Marine Stabil, haven't seen the Stabil ethanol treatment stuff yet.

I just bought a Stihl 2-stroke hedge trimmer. Stihl has a deal right now where they'll extend your warranty an extra year if you buy the 6-pack of their oil at the same time you purchase the tool.

I guess it gives them confidence you'll be using the right oil. If I only use it in the hedge trimmer, that 6-pack of oil will last the rest of my life!

I just mixed the still hp super with 1 1/2 ounces of stabil with 93 octane for my 2 gallon mix. I will probably switch to the ultra but I have 2 more bottles of the hp super....

Okay, so a little off topic here but a question. I have stumbled across 5 gallons of racing fuel. 103 octane? I know where it came from and how old it is. Does anyone know if this is safe for use in chainsaws and string trimmers mixed with 2 cycle oil ( I always use Sthil ultra also).

Mistake made on the octane, It is actually 112 octane. I'm thinking of haveing it mixed half and half with 93 octane. So 1gallon of 112 and 1 gallon of 93 mixed with stihl ultra oil mix. would this be of any benefit?

Use it up. I have mixed cam2 and VP 112 or 114 race gas up and ran it through chainsaws. Just make sure of your carb adjustments.

I found mixing regular 87 89 93 octane gas 50/50 with 112 or 114 worked best.
