What is the best oil to use in a brush hog?

What I am hearing is there are two options. Pack it with grease if the seals are bad; use gear oil if the seals are good. Downsides are oil leaks and greases cavitate. Does anyone use a mixture?
I've used a mixture on an homemade brush cutter that also had an homemade gearbox that was slightly prone to leakage. It worked very well with the mixture. I heated both grease and oil to mix it better.

I have been using "just grease" in one of my cutters for more 25 years, it works just fine. I only put in a half of a tube at a time and the box warms the grease enough for the grease to get everyplace it needs to.

Spindle grease, Cotton Picker grease, ect, isn't the same as grease-grease; I would describe it as room temperature honey viscosity. It is "pourable" but barely.

Corn head, Spindle, 00 grease is known by several names and is fast becoming the lubricant of choice for gear boxes (especially old ones) since it will flow and keep everything lubricated. But most importantly will not leak as readily as regular gear oil. I use it in all my gear boxes old and new.
It’s in every new Brown cutter gearbox
