This is the one that was over my head:

I hear ya on that, there is a little more to add and take away to get the true rating

anyhow motor is shot gone done, its out of the tractor now, so its time to rebuild or replace this thing,
the cam gear bolt backed out which sheared off the key, somewhere in the pan is the other half of it, valves smacked the pistons not bad but enough to make me think to replace them, bent 2 valves #1 intake #2 exhaust, kinda weird but that is how it goes, all the push rods are bent, and no telling how the crack looks or rods at this point, did split the tractor and removed the front section,
so for now I really do not think worrying about the compression is that important anymore LOL!

Tommy thanks, I called earlier today and got a quote on one, I'll have this motor completely apart tomorrow then I'll figure out which route I want to go, I know if I rebuild it I might go a little over board
So one question I did not ask Thomas is what kind of warranty does this motor have on it, the new (create) motor?
I found almost every part I'm going to need to rebuild this motor, I'll post some pix soon

So here are a couple of photo's
this is the cam shaft, the key way is completely mushroomed out, I have only half of the key, this is behind the front cover which has never been removed

with the front cover still on but the inspection over removed you can see the large bolt just sitting in the hole, completely backed out of the cam shaft gear

the front of the motor with the front cover removed, the cam gear is hollowed out

Most of the time the parts cost to rebuild the engine is around $ 1,200.00--1,400.00 for the parts, you also have to remember that does not include any labor, head work, injector pump, alt, water pump ect.A injector pump is $ 450.00, alt, $150.00, water pump $ 170.00, starter $ 190.00, it does not take long to add up The complete crated engine has all of that, it's ready to bolt in, even comes with a new flywheel.

I would take a good look at the complete engine route, your time, labor, equipment, tools has to have some value ?
