When I was a kid only one family in the village had a TV so we had to entertain ourselves some other way. We did a lot of bad stuff I suppose but most of it were more or less innocent pranks. It was a village tradition I suppose to do stuff like that. My father did the same thing. Actually some ideas came from stories told by my father and grandpa. Then I moved to a city, got some schools and turned into city slicker for about 40 years. Now in preparation for retirement I moved back to a country. My wife was born and raised in the city so there was some apprehension on her side but if I would tell her to move back to town again she would say "Only over my dead body". Life is a great adventure and I think I just completed the circle. I am back where I started. Since there was long time between my childhood and present I think I still consider myself in training to become a real Redneck and be proud of it.

In keeping with the new tradition of posting interesting YouTube videos, I nominate the following as the certifiable "Craziest Build Idea Ever":

YouTube - Destroyed in Seconds - Bulldozer Rampage

You've got to hand it to the guy, no matter how crazy or maniacal he is, that he's got talent for engineering and fabrication.

Ah yes, the dead idiot Marvin Heemeyer and his armored Komatsu dozer. He definitely had more than a single screw loose.

When I was a kid we would load square bales by hand off the wagon and up a PTO driven elevator into the barns, where we would stack it into tiers until the barn was full. What made this extremely hot and hard work bearable was the series of tunnels we built during the process. When completed you could go through these tunnels single-file crawling on your stomach exploring the various branches and rooms we had constructed. I remember on several occasions having to back out when we would find a segment of the tunnels had collapsed.

Hahahaha, reminds me of something every kid had in my part of the world, a ball racer. It was a low profile simple go cart with ball bearings as wheels. The steel on asphalt meant that turning was one huge arcing slide. 5 kids drifting down the meanest hill we could find was some sight. ****, we invented this drift racing concept well before the video games people caught on :)

Same in my country, before my time. In my days we were using baby stroller wheels.

Growing up my brothers would make whole rooms and tunnels in the hay mow. One year they did so many that we filled the barn awfully quick, and my dad sold the rest of the hay for $.25 cause he figured that we had extra. Then he was confused as to why we ran out of hay so fast, and had to buy hay for $1.20 a bale. I don't know if he ever found out the truth on that one.

In high school shop class, we were being taught how to braze with oxy-acetylene torches. The shop had a 6 foot square workbench with a large tub of quenching water in the center so that several kids could practice at once. Deducing that the oxygen would support a flame under water, I stuck my torch into the water for a few seconds and, sure enough, it didn't go out! Several of my classmates saw me do this. It was pretty cool! A few minutes later, one of the guys was repeating my experiment. However, he left his torch under water for more than a few seconds. When he lifted the (still lit) torch out of the water, and introduced the flame to the invisible accumulation of oxygen and unburnt acetylened that had bubbled up, the explosion removed several windows from the side of the shop. Only by the grace of God was nobody injured.

In my teens we learned to generate hydogen in the school lab.
Well I always liked to tinker and experiment (and still do) so I had my own lab corner kinda tucked away in our attic.
So I was generating hydrogen, filling baloons and such in order to pop them.
All fun.
Problem was that I had generated a fair bit of acid vapors that kinda got embeded in my trousers. Nothing was apparent, so much so that I wore them to class next day without incedant.
Next day after class my friend says; "Let's waterski" OK, not having a swim suit I roll up the trousers as high as I can (we were kool skiiers as we would take off and land without getting wet above the ankles).
Well, his motor stalls and I get dunked!
Ok, I'll roll down the trousers and let them dry out but mom will give it to me as the my trousers will need pressing!
Not so!
The water activated the dormant acid imbedded in the flannel and when I unrolled the cuffs , cuffs was all that was left.
All the trouser legs from cuff up to upper thigh was totally disinegrated!
Walked home in grey flannel 'shorts'!

When I was in 8th or 9th grade we had an action/reaction lab for physics class. The teacher put a little car with a horizontally mounted test tube on the top of it on one side of his desk. Then he put small amount of water in the tube lightly inserted a rubber plug and lit an alcohol burner under it. He explained that the plug will fly out shortly and the car will cross his desk. Then he turned toward the blackboard to write an equation. The guy in the front by his desk immediately pushed the plug in the test tube as hard as he could. When the teacher turned back from the blackboard all of us were siting hunched over taking cover behind our books. In that moment the test tube exploded breaking the burner and setting his desk on fire. All class got punished but I forgot how.
