Planning to rent a 3-ph trencher to do electric and water lines for a second barn. That got me wondering about buying a used one instead. Seems it would be pretty handy here on the farm, then again, am I confusing a trencher with a backhoe? Is the trencher only for narrow lines and limited applications?
Educate me, please...
Thanks,
Joan

The picture attached is of a trencher with a backhoe that I copied from ebay- the backhoe is on the right, the trencher is on the left. I can't figure out how to paste it or I would.
As you can see the trencher looks like a big chain saw. It digs a narrow trench quickly. The backhoe on the right digs slower, but larger. Hope this helps.
