I second what Aaron said about door height. My garages have 9' and 12' high doors.

I found a thread discussion on a building like these today from a while back and the guy liked it and said the paint etc was holding up. I might go up a bit taller and then there is probably about 2K difference between it and a pole barn. That is assuming I can get one built for about 8K like MX but prices in WI where my land is might be a bit more than MO, not sure.

It seems like a good option if your purpose is to protect your stuff from weather etc.

7 foot doors are a joke. Nothing can go thru that size much bigger than a lawnmower. I wouldn't install any doors less than 10 wide by 9.5 or 10 feet high with 12 being better if you are using it for equipment storage.

sounds like a metal carport with sides. A friend of mine has a "barn" built this way, and it leaks water as the siding was put on sideways, just like you see on metal carports, and rain comes in the ends. It also has 2x2 metal tubing as the frame, so not as sturdy as a pole barn will be. It has it's place for the price. A neighbor has a couple at his place.

MX, That is a good looking building.

Even though I think these metal buildings are a good value if you want or need to limit your work effort. I have built a few sheds and done a lot of carpentry type remodeling in my day. As I look at this I am compelled to just build it myself as I like a wood studded wall. I can hire the neighbor/carpenter to put the trusses and metal roof up and then just finish the rest myself. I bet even at the 7K price of the 24 x 30 metal shed, delivered and installed I could build for a lot less myself. Sound reasonable? Heck, Trusses are $120 for a 5/12 pitch and 30' span shorter is in the $80 range.

Not to hijack my own thread but I bet a lot of guys look at what is the cheapest way. Some have the skills (I bet many here do) to do it themselves. Just, like in my case it is a matter of free time. You always have to choose what is worth hiring out, and what is best to just do.

If a guy had little to no time and did buy one of these buildings and later found some gaps it would not take a lot to close them and increase the rigidity of the structure. The added cost would be low too since the building would already be up. Like mentioned before though, I would hope for a bigger overhead door. I did read that they offer that as an option so I will definitely look at that before I decide.

Would still be very interested in what guys think on this.

I just like a built on site pole barn a bit better, I think. Or a framed building. It's a hard decision, I'm there too! I need at least 36'x36'. 12' high at sides and garage door. You need to make it high enough! Old Eddie here recommends the Mueller steel buildings for metal ones, and I've learned the old boy knows his stuff about building. He's coming to GA from East TEXAS to build mine (he just doesn't know it yet!).
