between a disc mower and a drum mower? I know the disc has several "turtles" with spinning blades and the drum has large drum shaped heads with spinning blades. But how are they different in use?

A disc mower has the gear box underneath the cutting disc. The gearbox slides on the ground. The drum mower has the gearbox mounted above the cutting drums. The drums suspend down from the gearbox spinning and make direct contact with the ground, kinda like a weedwacker head. This is supposed to make less friction and less problems with tangled hay. I havnt used a drum mower for 20 yrs, but remember that they worked very well.
