What is the worst dog you ever had?

He's not that bad of a dog, but I'd have to say my current GSD is the most annoying. He whines and whimpers constantly, I guess he's trying to talk to us. He insists on licking your hand or bare leg while you're walking in the yard. I think that's just an instinctive greeting of the Alpha but it's still annoying. He's got free reign of 10 acres and insists on laying in my wife's flower beds. He's not dumb but has been difficult to train. It was my mistake to get him in the first place by trying to save a buck and buying him from a backyard puppy mill. He'll live out his days with us and be treated well but I am learning a lesson. On the other hand, our Border Collie may she rest in peace was the best dog we've had followed by a close second place 10 lb. mutt.

Long-haired dachshund. Male. Fixed.

He's got 'little-man syndrome' (read: aggressiveness) Like the kindergarten bully. I've seen dogs of this breed that were nice, but this guy is awful. He's bitten me a couple of times, once causing a nasty infection. He can be sweet occasionally, when there are no strangers around, but he seems to have a bi-polar switch. When he's off, he'll square off with my size 12 boot until he gets a bump from it to know that it's bigger than he is.

I've almost had the car in gear to take him to be put down twice, but my knowing it would make my daughters sad, I've stayed his execution. So now, we have him on meds from the veterinarian. Those make him almost tolerable, barely. Wifey won't let him be in the same room as the grandboys. I will, with my size 12s close by.

We're a one dog family and silly me for taking him from the shelter thinking we'd take a small dog this time. We've always had black and yellow labs and they're great dogs, just bigger.

This guy is twice the nuisance of any big dog I've had.

A golden retriever that I’m pretty sure was inbred. It was the absolute stupidest dog I’ve ever had. I gave it away after a couple months.
We had a blue tick hound when I was really small. Thinking about 3ish. The only real thing I remember about the dog was it chasing my twin brother and I while on our big wheels.

We were headed down the road between our grandparents place and our home.

Dog came tearing across the yard after my brother and I. Dog was so focused on us that it failed to notice the very large sugar maple on the corner of their yard.

Dog hit that tree at full speed with it's head low. Head got drove into the base of the tree and it's body stopped when it came to rest against the tree (head stand at 20mph)

Couple days later the dog chased after the garbage truck down the road and we never saw it again.

My brother has a golden doodle ( half golden retriever ) that repeatedly ran into trees at full speed. He’s a pretty good dog but stupid as a rock.

The worst dog we ever had was also the hardest for us to lose. He was a rebellious American bully named Cameron (Scottish meaning "crooked nose") who, for the first year and a half of his life, was the bane of my existence. Unteachable, didn't listen, resistant to any form of discipline, prone to stress poops, destructive (oh, he got enough exercise, that wasn't the problem). But I loved that rebellious nature of his, especially as he got older. Made me laugh more than any other dog, or possibly anything. Swam like a fish, clocked him at 23mph, he was more of an athlete than you would think. He passed at age 5 years and 3 months due to, in all probability, a genetic neurological disease that took him in 5 days. Broke our hearts and we still miss him fiercely.

About 13 years ago we adopted a hound mix from the shelter. We were looking for a smaller dog and she was sold to us as a beagle mix who might get to 30 pounds, she ended up around 85 lbs. She had lived on the street before being found as a puppy, and her whole life she was food-obsessed. She could just not be trusted in the same room as any kind of food. Even toward the end, when she had arthritis and couldn't handle stairs any more, stopped going for walks and took a long time to get up from lying down, she would limp into the kitchen and slowly get up on the counter and steal whatever was there.

She had a personality that was abrasive. She had little desire to please, and her inclination in any situation was to be as annoying as possible. Often that involved barking or whining. At night she'd get up and bark at the night. Even though she had a dog door, she would stand by the door and bark until someone let her out. Then a minute later she'd bark until someone let her back in again.

She loved to chase things and until she got quite old she was a flight risk, she had to be leashed or fenced at all times. If she got out she would go quite far. One time we found her in Massachusetts. She also had numerous run-ins with skunks.

She was never affectionate. I wonder if she had been hit, because if I ever moved my hands close to her head she would suddenly shy away as if she expected to be hit. Even after a dozen years of daily feeding and petting she didn't like my hands close to her head.

My nickname for her was "worst dog ever."

She's been gone for five months now and we still miss her.

Sorry you lost him. He looks so happy in those pics.

Worst dog we ever had was whatever dog was roaming the area at large and harassing our livestock. Since we live rural there is no animal control. Thankfully have not had to take things into my own hands yet. They get the message from the loud "bang".
