It is a pasture drag harrow,
you can use it aggressively to stir
up the cow pies or horse hockey pucks
and dig a bit in the sod or simply flip it up
and over and use the smooth side to break
up manure pies.

Nice find. You might want to keep and use it.
You can also use it to smooth dirt(non aggresive side) helps fill in low spot and grab some larger debris out, and plant grass or food plots for deer(aggressive side) gives you rows for the seed. I use mine for my making my trails, maintaining them, and for doing a quick smooth before planting new grass.

Chain harrow. That's just one 4x4 section (16sf). I had an 8' tow bar pulling 4 sections, for a total of 64sf. Besides pasture grooming, I also used it on my gravel farm roads. Tines down to scratch out the weeds, tines up to subsequently smooth the gravel that was just stirred up.

Good fined, I tow mine behind my grader or my box blade just for that little extra touch

I went to the hospital several years ago to vist my neighbour who owned the above mentioned chain harrow.

It was laying in the tall grass and he was wearing black NON safety rubber boots. He stepped straight down HARD on a pointed chain. Lets just say he ruined the boot.
A hole in through the sole and out through the top with his foot in the middle.

I would say it's worth well more than $200.00. If you had to buy new, closer to $400.00

Yeow. That hurts just thinking about it.
Uh, Shortthrow - make sure you park it points down.

The found harrow is likely 5/8" tempered steel. That what mine were, and a 4x4 section sold for only $75. Stuff they're sellin' in farm stores now is only 1/2". Might not even be hardened, but I'm not sure about that part.

Find a hunter that plants his own food plots. They are great for planting winter grass and turnip greens.

Those harrows are one of the most useful items for finishing a seed bed and / or covering seed. Also great for driveway and trail grooming. We pull ours all over our land using our 4 wheeler. Great tool!:thumbsup:

well i pulled it out of the feild and into my barn for some better pics and measured it. it is 5ft x 5ft thanks a lot of all the info guys! i also found in the woods on my property a 6ft wide steel filled with concret roller that is about 24 inches tall and weighs at least a ton and a half. i know pundage so im not exaggerating. gonna have to use the 3520 to pull it out.

Find a tree and hang it from a stout branch, I would never store a set on the ground. My neighbour had a new Ford 7710 and decided to park it in the long grass beside his shed, drove right over 3 sections of harrows and got the joy of buying 2 new front 4x4 tires. That afternoon he made a rack and hung them on the side of the shed.

Never heard the tree idea before, but it is dangerous to store it with the tines facing up. I just stored mine laying flat - tines down - in the pasture. Tried rolling it up once. But 64sf of 5/8" steel was just too much for me.

I have a 8x8 drag that I bought new that's almost exactly like that one. I believe it's called a Tarzan chain harrow. It's been a really good tool for smoothing the pasture.
